Breaking hiatus to draw this meme that's been stuck in my head since the trailer came out
The picture of wide-eyed Elizabeth Holmes from the upcoming movie You Can See Everything, recreated with Vivec. It's drawn in watercolor and captioned "why would I deceive you?"

time to finally catch up with that zeitgeist and watch this mothafucka
Film poster for "Obsession" (2026). Headshot of a long-haired figure, silhouetted to near-black against a red background. But the whites of their eyes and a reflection in their pupil shine out from the dark, creepily.

really enjoying this one, loving the build up with Lance Henriksen going on a whole little witchy quest to summon the monster and get revenge

watching. I'm already arguing with the creative decisions on this one from the poster. sir that's an alien, not a demon. you can tell by the big braincase. I don't make up these made-up rules
Film poster for "Pumpkinhead" (1988). Illustration of a freaky humanoid monster with long arms and claws, blank eyes, big wrinkly head and a toothy expression, posing in front of a full moon.

the three second pause that characters in old movies will take in the middle of saying "she was... attacked" is more horrifying than just saying the word rape

was briefly annoyed when it looked like this was gonna be a "the cops could have fixed this problem if not for those darn fool CIVIL RIGHTS!!" angle, pleased that it pulled back and acknowledged some frustrating compromises are fundamental to free citizenry

the best part of the 1st Ready or Not (besides Samara Weaving) is how the rich bastards are so sheepishly embarrassed about the situation, but when the chips are down, still choose evil. here everyone is campy evil from the jump. tries to be more "fun!" but is less fun

watching. I liked the first one a lot, enjoyed the "Knives Out + crossbows" situation. but saw no reasonable path to a sequel from the premise, so, kept my expectations for number 2... low. and so far, boy is this movie meeting me there
Film poster for "Ready or not 2: Here I Come" (2026). A collage of actors posing with weapons against a reddish background with candles.

Julie Adams also looks incredibly good, but contriving movies around actresses who are hot as hell was well-understood technology by 1954
Promo shot of Julie Adams lying posed in a white one piece swimsuit with an anxious expression, in front of a fishman.

it's good Halloween luck to drink a double shot of horror on the first. no way in the hell the 1960 version is gonna rate against the 1986 but I'm curious to see the cheapo Roger Corman take instead of the deluxe puppetry
Film poster for "The Little Shop of Horrors" (1960). Illustration of a dapper gent smiling at a potted flower in his hand, while a beaked flower grows to menace him from behind.

my frequent reading of books with spaceships and dragons on the cover still did not prepare me for an author to use a simile in the middle of another simile. it was like a thing, that was like another thing

it's legit to dislike a movie for being opaque, incomprehensible, that whole line of "I didn't get it," because it is kinda the artist's job to help me get *something* out of it but also I don't take seriously anybody making that criticism unless they've got at least 1000 movies under their belt

i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko.
