Some people desperately desire to be “cancelled” because being “cancelled” actually brings a person a lot of attention. New audiences and revenue streams open up. But be 74, have a Wikipedia page, be a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and still be this desperate for attention is pretty sad.

They’ve already started doing the same with mutual aid through “charitable feeding ordinances” and similar, that place barriers to feeding more than 5 ppl at a time. The first Trump admin targeted mutual aid in 2020 as something associated with “antifa.”

Also, local governments routinely push out electeds who criticize the police. Be they centrist, liberal, or progressive, they’re going to give you a committee to look into it, then once public pressure wanes, elected who don’t lick boots are ostracized by colleagues. They want it this way.

Darren Seals was murdered in 2016, at age 29.

Danye Jones was found hanging from a tree in 2018. He was 24. In the months before his death, cars with tinted windows would sit in front of his house and drive off when approached.

Bassem Masri was a Palestinian American photojournalist who documented the Ferguson protests. He was found unresponsive on a bus in 2018 at the age of 31.

Edward Crawford, the subject of a famous photo from the Ferguson protests, died from an allegedly self inflicted gunshot wound in 2017 at age 27.
