i’ve recently been obsessed with mhairi mcfarlane’s books, they’re so witty and the characters are amazing!!

tara @tarakazhani.bsky.social · 07/03/2025

a DC attorney tried to threaten georgetown law with a hiring freeze if georgetown didn’t “abolish DEI” (??!) the dean basically told him to stfu & the interactions on the gtown law student discord are giving me LIFE. the sass? the wit? the intellectual outrage?

yess you go!! most of writing feels like a long haul but the moments where you can see/plot the progress of the story are the best!

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

KNOW YOUR
RIGHTS
IN CASE OF ICE:
CONOCE TUS DERECHOS
EN CASO DE ENCUENTRO CON ICE:

DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR.
ICE cannot enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge.
Tell the agents to show you the warrant by sliding it under the door.
NO ABRAS TU PUERTA.
ICE no puede entrar a tu casa sin una orden firmada por un juez. Diles a los agentes que te muestren la orden deslizándola debajo de la puerta.

ASK THEM
TO LEAVE.
If ICE doesn't have a warrant, tell them you do not consent for them to enter your home and ask them to leave. At work, ICE cannot enter employee-only areas without permission.
2

REMAIN SILENT.
You have the right to remain silent.
If the agents ask you questions, tell them,
"I wish to remain silent."
PERMANECE EN SILENCIO.
Tienes derecho a permanecer en silencio.
Si los agentes te hacen preguntas, diles:
"Deseo permanecer en silencio".

Breaking: A federal judge sides with Washington, Oregon, and Minnesota and has just blocked Trump's anti-trans EO banning care under the age of 19 via a TRO. This is the second federal judge in a row to conclude that the President's EO is likely unconstitutional.

Hi Annie! For this query cycle, will you be open to psychological suspense with a speculative edge? Or just straight psychological suspense?

tara @tarakazhani.bsky.social · 13/02/2025

Hi Anne! Are you open to thrillers with a speculative edge (and a dash of horror)?

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

Hospital protests have begun for hospitals that are complying with an executive order banning gender affirming care. The order does NOT have the force of law, but some hospital systems are too scared of trump to defend trans kids in their care. This one at UVA Hospital.

it’s super disheartening sometimes! i’ve been querying dif projects on and off for 10 yrs, and it DOES get better you just gotta take breaks when you feel burnt out! & i’ve found that working on an unrelated project also helps :)
