Not to be too "every crisis is a secret opportunity" but I think the rise in generic AI stuff is a good moment to think about how you curate the art you listen to or watch or read. Engage more fully with what you like, seek it out, and support those artists!

I remember the journalists we were all asked to debate here in Ireland alone, who said #metoo was going too far. Oh! They were anti #repealthe8th too. You’re never going to guess* what the rest of their stances are, or who they now work for. *You will totally guess

What are you at tomorrow afternoon? Come and join us at the Department of Health because our government thinks we are all satisfied with our current abortion access and sure aren't they great for giving it to us. We want FREE, SAFE, LEGAL, LOCAL and ACCESSIBLE ABORTION in Ireland!

We knew at the time that legislation and provisions didn't go far enough. Now, it's mostly people in the most heartbreaking situations who are being left behind. Come out for a walk with @freesafelegal.bsky.social on Saturday. Ah, do.

8 years after Repeal, those seeking abortion in Ireland are still subject to an unnecessary 3 day waiting period, an unworkable 12 week cut off, and a lack of providers throughout the country. If that doesn't sound very much like Repeal to you, join the march in Dublin this Saturday!

With a week to go, we need your help! Spread the word about the march next Saturday: tell your friends, contact the people you campaigned with 8 years ago, make a placard or dig out your vuvuzela. We need as many people as possible to come along and make some noise! Can we count on you?

Hear us Now! at the 15th annual March for Choice, this September 26th in Dublin. Meet us at 2pm outside the Department of Health before we march to the Dáil. Share this post far and wide and show your interest by clicking "interested" on our facebook event page, link in our tree.
Square illustrated image split into 4 horizontal sections. The is a collaged image, two figures in the centre in teal and pale purple. Their eyes and mouths are from different people and are much larger, and jump off the faces. They are saying "Hear us Now!" in black and white ransom style font. The backgrounds of these are cone shaped speech bubbles, they are both patterned with interlocking points in shades of teal, purple and yellow. The ARC logo is to the right of the two figures in the centre.
The next section says "15th annual March for Choice" in white font outlined in black, with a similar pattern to the speech bubble behind it.
The next horizontal says "Saturday September 26th 2026" in black against a see-through white rectangle, that you can see the pattern through.
The last section is a teal rectangle with rounded ends and says "When: 2pm, Where: Dept of Health Lower Baggot Street"

Ní Saoirse Go Saoirse Na Palaistíne ✊
The image is an illustration of a woman wearing a traditional thobe and kufiya, holding a flag behind her - the slogan on the flag reads "Ní saoirse go saoirse na Palaistíne", which means no freedom until the freedom of PaIestine.

One of the coolest things about people who don't have a lot of power taking a principled stand is it lays bare the complete cowardice of the ones who actually *do* have power when they fail to do even a fraction as much.

This is what Sheeran should have done and perhaps would have done if he’d grown up Irish. They have so much more to lose than he does, but immediately made the right call at great professional expense. Support for human rights isn’t a political stance, it just requires intelligence and integrity.

Beoga weren't just a support band but were acting as Sheeran's band for the tour. Playing these huge venues with an artist as big as this was career-changing for these acts. To sacrifice that, while acknowledging that it's not about them but the Palestinian people, is impressive & touching❤️🇵🇸

I gotta say, the solidarity of all the opening acts and Ed Sheeran’s own band, everyone of whom just quit the tour to stand with Palestine and who have a lot more to lose financially, makes totally plain how easy it would have been for Ed Sheeran to stand up. He did not.

So many people who work in the arts - even people you’ve heard of and especially now - are not in a position to turn down work for any reason, even if they desperately want to. So when someone is in that position and doesn’t…hard to describe how badly that stings.

Jane Fonda’s tribute to Dolly is perfect.
janefonda
I am devastated. I just learned that Dolly has moved on. I know that millions are mourning and I want to say this - more than anyone I have ever known, Dolly will always be with us because she was so present, so powerful, so generous and playful that she is woven into all our lives and hearts forever. We have our memories of her, her songs, Dollywood, "9to5," the millions of books she got into the hands of children, all the iconic images that bring her to us. And they are all blessings. Let's be grateful for all that she has left us to ease our sadness now. I never knew anyone like her. She was simultaneously a naughty, playful southern gal from the hollows of
Tennessee and a deep, soulful thinker who could see through people right down to their true selves. She was many things...lyricist, songstress, player of many instruments, writer, prankster, visionary, loyal friend, who'd never go to bed before she and her friends had laughed so hard
they'd have to cross their legs.
She had a survivor's instinct and seemed to always know just what to do, just what to say, to make things right....and then she's stick her butt out the car window and moon Kenny Roger's home. She was the voluptuous embodiment of empathy. That's something of hers she'd want us all to take with us.
To her gay and trans fans, I want you to know that she loved you. You know that without me telling you. She loved all her fans and they are legion. And you know she doesn't want y'all to mourn now. Dress up and celebrate her spirit. But first, watch the final episode of Grace and Frankie where she's an Angel, the head honcho working class angel in Heaven.
RIP, beautiful woman. We love you.

Dolly Parton Was Family
The American legend, who has died at 80, operated in pure joy, empathy, and sincerity. She became as successful as a human being can be by never holding any of it back.
