So now Harbourne has matched Delo's donation. £72million to Reform in a couple of days. Limits on donations have to be set. This is not how politics should be run. Men with loads of money backing a specific party is not a party which will look after the majority.

On the £36m donation to Reform UK from Ben Delo... Lib Dems: "Farage wants to bring Trump's America to our shores by buying his way into power. He's trying to get into No 10 as if it's a stop on a monopoly board" The PM "needs to introduce a cap on political donations. Our democracy depends on it"

Govt must act so this level of donation is kept out of politics. Donor, Ben Delo says he wanted a "fair fight and a level playing field". How fair is it that one person can invest so much in a political party? That's no level playing field and is not democracy! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

Look, I know it isn’t the, ah, main story today, but: if you want MPs to spend all their time legislating in the Commons (even for a few weeks) then you also need to set out how the consequences of that for the other parts of their jobs will be dealt with.

Also reminiscent of Thatcher's advice to stock up with non-perishable goods when on offer in store and then store them. I think she said she did that and kept the items in the loft until needed. I am quite sure that she would not have been doing this herself.

Dry weather sewage discharges soar as water companies face scrutiny
Exclusive: 7,280 suspected illegal spills in rivers and sea recorded in first five months of 2026 The number of suspected illegal discharges of raw sewage into rivers and seas by water companies during dry weather increased significantly during the first five months of 2026. Dumping raw sewage into waterways during dry spells via overflows amounts to pollution. It is considered a breach of the permits given to water companies and is illegal. Discharging during dry weather increases the toxicity of the sewage pollution entering waterways. Rivers have less flow and volume, and there is no rainwater to dilute the sewage pollution entering the waterway. Continue reading...
