I was 15, in an NSF summer program for high school kids when I got the question. The town I grew up in had actual Nazis so I clocked the guy as ignorant but less problematic than my swastika-defacing neighbors.

Massachusettes "Millionaires Tax", which was targeted to fund transportation and education, has been a resounding success. It has funded FREE school lunch for ALL students, FREE buses in lowest income communities (people can get to work, etc.), and FREE community college. And "exodus" was minimal.

ShotSpotter was a scam from the start. It failed in the marketplace - police departments wouldn’t spend their money on it - so they lobbied Congress to create a grant program to fund its purchase. Then they trained police departments on how to write a successful grant.

It’s been a dozen years and I remember when I was a lonely voice speaking against what was a really stupid technology. Cambridge had 2 gun fire incidents the year before ShotSpotter was installed and had no need for gunfire detection technology, even assuming it worked.
