Aliana Hadar: Terran Colonial Mentalist Pathfinder

Vocation Skills: Clairvoyance, Telepathy, Marksman, Athletics, Perception.

Clairvoyant Survivalist: Aliana was born on Hadar IV where her parents were part of a Pathfinder planetary survey expedition.
At five years old, her latent clairvoyant abilities awakened and gave her a horrifying vision of an impending disaster. She fled the expedition basecamp in terror, disappearing into the alien wilds.
When Aliana finally returned home, she found everyone gone and the camp in shambles. She survived there alone for four months until she was rescued by a passing Vanguard starship.
Aliana is now a Pathfinder Scout herself, following in her family’s footsteps. She takes on contracts with other outfits, bringing her unique combination of survival experience and potent telepathic potential. She hopes that, someday somewhere, she can find her family.

I just realized the Star Trek Holodeck has a lot in common with generative AI. It generates stuff based on prompts. It can only use preprogrammed source material. It makes really inappropriate deepfakes. It hallucinates all the time with unintended consequences. Another weird Trek prediction.

The GM and the TTRPG system itself are scaffolding. The players have the most impact on the experience based on how they interact with that framework. Curious and engaged players make campaigns fun and memorable. Lazy and apathetic players drag them down. Collaboration vs consumption.

One thing I really like about Tangent Space is that you don't have to wait to get playstyle defining features for your character. Take the traits for the Soldier and Ascetic for example. Powerful passives like these are usually a capstone, but here it's baked in from the start. #ttrpg #scifi

VOCATION TRAIT: KILL STREAK

You gain SURGE whenever one of your weapon attacks defeats a target. If you already had SURGE when this effect occurs, you get a bonus weapon attack instead. This effect can trigger up to 3 times in the same turn.

The Physical Training and Shooting Range downtime activities are easier for you.

VOCATION TRAIT: INNER FIRE

You are psionically Awakened.

Your Endurance Value is increased by an amount equal to your
maximum AURA pool.

Whenever you have no Endurance Points, you lose AURA from damage as if they were additional Endurance Points.

While wearing no armor or Polymesh, your Armor Value is increased by an amount equal to your combined levels in Telekinesis based psionic skills.

Response: I have two Diplomats coming aboard, and I’ll need like three or four more for their escort ship’s Captain, an opposing Noble, and a few key flunkies along the way.

So like 5-6?

Noble, two diplomats, the captain.

Noble has a cane/scepter, golden jewelery, and pointy shoulders. The two diplomats have been named Gimli and Legolas (for height, and no further resemblance) and they wear uniform-ish outfits with golden braces on the chest and arms and purple drapery on top. The unnamed noble is dressed similarly.

Captain has the gold and purple in his uniform top. They wear pants and simple boots.

The nobles are teal, the captain is blue.

Flunkies, given names so I could keep them organized. Muigi, Lario, Wargaret. For the colors.

Muigi is tall, skinny, and green. Shaggy Scooby Doo energy, holding some manner of long sharp weapon.

Lario is short and round with big hair tentacles. This one's the boss.

Wargaret is a delicate tulip they are pink and wearing a utility belt like Batman or a cop, and large spiky pauldrons similar to the Hydran mouth shape.

These ones are not as polished as the others bc i did them first 🤷

During earlier development of Tangent Space, I was often asked if giant mecha were in the game. They were very popular for scifi TTRPGs at the time. I shoehorned them in, but they never really felt like they belonged. It was a huge weight off the project when I took them back out.
