I have every group chat muted, and some archived. A lot of the time I will just “mark as read” to get rid of the count. But I’m not averse to leaving people on unread/read, friends know I’m ADHD as shit and can poke me again if it’s urgent

What I desperately miss about MSN Messenger wasn't being 15, or nudges, or screen names or anything, it was the fact that when you weren't online, you couldn't be messaged, and if you didn't want to make yourself known you could Appear Offline. Oh and no Read Receipts. Modern DMs are torture.
