Regardless, I'm pleased to see that teaching seems to suit you.

Damn, did I read a lot of JUNK about Kennedy as a teen (ca 1990). Anyway I didn't ask, because of that, but kids certainly did.

with 4chan dying, there will probably be an exodus of users onto other platforms. a bunch will likely end up on this app. it's important that you all remember to bully the shit out of them when they do show up!

Sometimes, you're doodling around, testing some art skills & you make something pretty neat.

Curses. I'll keep that in mind if I ever have to replace my current DrGrip Gel. (Unlikely, I don't use it nearly as much as I used to do to changing work conditions)

There is (or was) a Dr Grip gel that uses the same cartridge as a G2. I used to rip G2s apart as emergency refills back in the day. I dont know if the internals on a non Gel DrGrip are similar enough.

It'll have to wait to I'm back at the house & I'll get you a photo. Or you could drop by at some point.

Well, the front was poorly glued in (and it's over 15 years old) so that basically popped off so now so I have to do is get the back paper unglued then clean this up & decide what do with it.

Neither! It's glued to it!

And by "hates fountain pens" I mean turns a CM Pilot Metro into a scratchy, horrifying mess. Just thick, toothy, slow-drying wood pulp. I've met cardboard that was a better writing experience.

I have acquired a journal that has a lovely tooled leather cover that I love. Sadly it's full of paper that absolutely HATES fountain pens. So now I guess I need to find something to do with the leather after I extract the paper from it.

Pilot Metro is such a good choice. Both of mine came with both a cartridge & a convertor

Fountain pen/journaling hivemind: Does anyone know of or have recs for a top-bound weekly planner? (Preferably with good paper, but I'll compromise there)

Oh yeah, hand cramps & one of my three different types of hand pain have basically vanished w gel ink then, later, fountain pens.

Forgive the handwriting, it's speedy & angular, but my best work.

The top is the line from my DrGrip, the bottom from a Pilot Metropolitan, which I'd recommend as a starter pen in this case (or either a Platinum Plaisir or Lamy Safari or AL-star). All are roughly in the 20-30 USD range.
Some scribbling about pens.

What do you value about the G2? For years I used a Dr grip with g2 05 refills bc it was a reliable line and the gel ink was much easier to use for me than a ballpoint. Fountain pins generally require even lighter pressure than the gel, also have a reliable line but I find use ink faster than a G2.

Thing about Goulet fountain pens, and Noodler's, and everybody else I've decided sucks, is yes, they can believe whatever they want. I won't stop them. But If I can tell what someone's values are, I will absolutely use this information to make my purchasing decisions. I don't OWE these ppl money.

Every Birdverse story has shaken my heart into a new shape and The Unbalancing is no different. It's nothing less than a parable about how the work we all must face inevitably changes us.

It's been sitting, waiting hopefully for me to take it up, yet I have been too scared. Today, though, I opened @rblemberg.bsky.social 's The Unbalancing and though I wept more than once, it is still a book of great love. It is a story I needed. It is a story I should have read sooner.

I get why people do that (there's an entire award-winning dissertation on managing others' emotions that a different version of me wrote). It's a hard habit to, but so worthwhile. Let people feel things, even the bad feelings, ffs.

Pixar forcing queer and POC stories to go straight to streaming, then using the lack of theatrical success as an excuse to kill queer and POC stories is the entire entertainment industry in a nut shell.

It's the flag I show, to show my solidarity, but given that Stonewall was a riot, the architects of whom were trans women of color, that we felt the need to do this feels like a constant reminder we moved away from the very foundations our movement was built upon.

There's a lot of talk about Pride flags today. I fall into the category of whatever flag suits you, you should fly, but I find it a bit sad that the Progressive Pride flag came to be because Pride itself had been co-opted so hard by cis white queerdom that the inclusion wasn't automatic.

I guess my glass dip pen didn't like the shit I was talking about it and decided it was better to go out in its own terms. Flinging Diamine Oxblood all over my desk & clothes as it took a dive straight to the floor was a slightly over-dramatic choice but one I expect in this household.

No skill, just paper, colored pencils & moments to myself. But the paper takes the Stabilo pens, my colored pencils & fountain pen ink pretty well, so a pretty good day.

Utterly enraging that the US, a country currently incapable of regulating all kinds of things that demonstrably maim and kill people, are deciding to go after ADHD medications - which help those of us with ADHD *avoid early death and stay employed*. Call your congressperson and complain.

At that point the argument was "if more people get it, everyone will go crazy and become violent." And then millions of people did get it. And houses were not burnt down. People did not become stimulant-addled violence factories. The goalpost is always moving. It's always shitty.

What amazes me about this shit is I'm a 90s kid. I remember the smearfest, even when there were about 13 people total who could actually get prescribed stimulants because 1993, that kids on Ritalin would burn their houses down. This has ALWAYS been derided. ALWAYS.

A JAMA study of 15,000 Sweeds found that treating diagnosed ADHD patients with medication reduced mortality by 19% over a two-year period. Normal executive function does more than improve your grades. It makes you less likely to die.
