treadmill hooked up to #resonite successfully. it moves my avatar forward by the speed the treadmill is set to, and changes the treadmills incline depending on angle of the ground the avatar is walking on.

well that's surprisingly simple for how much the software didn't work. alltough it does sure seem to send a lot of commands to which the treadmill just responds with error. i'll see if i can get this hooked into resonite tomorrow, probably

ok that took way longer than expected but the shitass software is now working. look at this glorious piece of software. now to actually figure out how these communicate

and now it's not showing any COM ports to select anymore. i really did not expect the hard part to be getting the manufacturers software to even talk to the thing at all

so the thing just crashes on the device settings screen if you run the 32bit version. i could send this to keppler but i have this sneaking suspicion that's not gonna do anything.

Windows dialog screenshot, "An unexpected error has occurred: Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) The program must be closed. Do you want to send this information to KETTLER?

what do you mean check if a software update is available, i've just installed it. also the software looks like it hasn't gotten an update since at least 2009. (the software says this no matter which serial port i select, even when i don't have a kettler device connected at all. great stuff.)

"the connected device seems to be a KETTLER device. It cannot be identified however. Please check if a software is available."

so anyway i've decided to try to reverse engineer the usb interface on my treadmill to hook it up to resonite or some shit. figured the easiest way to do that would be to sniff whatever the manufacturers proprietary software is doing. unfortunately the thing […] [Original post on awawi.nexus]

so through this post i've learned that apparently bsky doesn't support more than one attachment on a post if you have a video attached, so even this one doesn't look quite right over there. huh.

vrchat is really running out of things to charge money for huh.

screenshot of vrchat patchnotes reading:

VRC+ Subscribers can now name their instance from within VRChat! When creating an instance, you'll have an option to name it -- changing what it appears to other users as.

This could be useful for setting the tone, letting folks know what vibe you're going for.

Two quick notes about this: First, we're aware that this presents a moderation concern -- so this also comes with a new way to report instances that are named inappropriately.

Second, we know that this is something you can do via the API from outside of VRChat. We're not taking that functionality away! This is just an easy way for folks to name their instance from within VRChat.

If VRC+ subscribers wish to use generic "code" instance names again, they can simply submit a blank instance name or hit the "Clear" button found on the "New Instance Created" modal.

the last paragraph is highlighted

i was once again reminded that the avali wikidot exists. with how many avali lore rewrite attempts there are i'm kind of surprised that there was seemingly never any community effort to finish this version of the lore.
