Which will be more important to them: control of the narrative, or moneymaking? The more they do the former, the less they'll get of the latter.

It's not just that he deludes himself about his judgements being correct -- he expects everyone to celebrate him for his wisdom and gets very pissy when we don't.

Average participants in the practice should wonder why Polymarket et al. can afford that amount for promotions. But if they could do that, they'd be the sort of people to avoid participation in the first place.

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

Rant: Pope, would you please shut the fuck up about matters you do not understand? You're not an Ai influencer, no one elected you, and you have absolutely no weight in this debate and you're being used as a mouthpiece to sway public opinion. how many local models do you run?

Community notes: The Pope is elected by cardinals in a Conclave which gathers in the Sistine Chapel.

The Republican Party was founded in Wisconsin, but there really is not a Wisconsin Republican Party any longer. When three people are paying for 90% of a gubernatorial campaign and 80% of legislative campaigns, you have a club, not a political party, owned and funded by billionaires.

Part 1/2 of a 6-panel SMBC comic update. A priest confronts a kid for falling asleep in church. The kid starts to recite Acts 20:9-11 as his explanation. He says : "And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.”Part 2/2 of a 6-panel SMBC comic update. After quoting the Bible verse, the kid explains "Paul’s preaching was so boring a kid literally fell out a third story window and had to be resurrected just to hear more sermon, and you’re mad at ME for finding you boring?" The final panel cuts to a later scene, where the priest declares "the scripture memorization prize is officially canceled. We will now be rewarding doing what I say."

New from me: I unpack what happened at the Jack Smith hearing, and offer a theory of what the hell Senator Eric Schmitt thought he was doing. And yes, an inability to tell the difference between the Hawks and Hawkeyes really did seem to be a big part of it. 🧵 donmoynihan.substack.com/p/what-happe...

One of the things to come from GamerGate was the gamification of torturing real, live women...hounding them out of their homes, making them look over their shoulders for years. It was treated as a joke, nbd, the work of a few bad apples--as all terrorism against women is--& that failure leads here.

The Schmitt thing is kind of scary because it shows just how much many elected Rs genuinely believe the crazy stuff. He and his staff thought they’d pulled the red thread on The Giant Conspiracy. They were so convinced it must be real they didn’t even think to double check.

Britt was the next Republican Senator up after Eric Schmidt. Was Schmidt’s little Hawks/Hawkeyes gotcha planned by the whole committee staff? Was Britt planning to ask about it before Schmidt imploded?
