True story: I was eight when Xanadu came out and I asked my dad if he could take me to see it. He let me know in no uncertain terms that it was a movie I shouldn't be watching. I don't know why, but I gather he probably felt that a musical would turn his then son gay. Now I'm trans.

Even though my first video game system as a kid was a ColecoVision, the NES and arcades heavily influenced my taste in games. As I got exposure to more hardware and systems, my tastes broadened, but these titles really set the foundation for a lot of the games I tend to gravitate toward.
