i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

The reason we have all these Claude-built recomp/decomp projects is because the AI dorks couldn't figure out how to shoehorn LLMs into games that were made 20 years ago so they all got together and had their agents do a little brainstorming and came up with a strategy to ruin yet another good thing.

Post from user wjbentleyetc: AI is not a "tool". Prompting is not creating. You're giving instructions, exactly the same as if you hired someone to create art for you. You've always been able to do this. At any time in history you could have gone to an artist, described to them what you wanted, and had them create that thing for you. There's no techological advancement there. The only difference is that now you don't have to pay a fair price for the end product and can pretend you're the creator instead of the customer.

The surest two ways to lose us as potential first time customers: Leave a flyer on our doorstep in flagrant disregard to our large crystal clear No Soliciting signage, and using AI slop to make your advertising materials.

A flyer, left attempting to solicit business and not only violating our sign, but including AI slop in the header "photo" and the usual disproportional layout that results from asking AI to make it rather than a human.

A large sign saying "ABSOLUTELY NO SOLICITING", including nine bullet points that include "NO MENUS, NO TAGS, NO MAGAZINES". This is posted right next to our mailbox that's just out of shot.
