A street near me in #eastendTO shuts down a block to let the kids run free and a bunch of the houses go all out. I volunteered at the necessary barricades to direct traffic away and donated but it's a lot of cost and permits and insurance for a few hours closure. Wish there was less red tape.

I was surprised it was still up too given how NOW imploded. That first year I had no idea what Nuit Blanche would be, so it was fun and new to be up and experiencing art at 2am for the first time. 20 years later, i'll still be heading out. I still fondly remember Blinkenlights at City Hall too.

This weekend is the 20th anniversary of Nuit Blanche in Toronto. I remember heading to U of T that night because Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya's work was enveloping Philosopher's Walk in fog. It was amazing. For a time capsule, here's my Flickr album from 20 years ago. I'd just gotten my 1st dSLR.
