I really want to add surfing to this world, but in the meantime, we have surfing at home.

Sylan @sylantroh.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I'm glad I finished my world but it's hard to stay positive about it. When I logged into the VRChat website today, I notice they've changed their login images from a slideshow of cool worlds (i love the horse from horse mountain) to a generated slop image. Really feels like we're not wanted anymore.

Hey all! It's a bit late, but I am finally releasing my new world, Beach Sandbox. It is a fully interactive and network synced fluid and sand simulation in VRChat. Please check it out, and share it with your friends! vrchat.com/home/world/w...

Footprints (and pawprints!)

A simulated beach world in VRChat. The beach is littered with pawprint impressions in the sand.

Sound on for this one; we've got wave noises!

Sylan @sylantroh.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

I've been stumped on how I could add a surfing mechanic to my upcoming beach world (since the waves are fully simulated, the surfing would also need to be). I mentioned this to some people who were helping me test it, and they figured out how to surf about 10 seconds after that.

After 3 weeks of being stuck in networking hell, I emerge victorious. Everything is synced. Yes, even the waves (though those take a minute to converge).

Now that I'm done with school, I'm back to making worlds. Have some clouds! I do very much like some raymarched clouds, but I think the blocky variant will end up suiting the game world I'm working on better. Still deciding though.

A screenshot with a white, fluffy raymarched cloud in the center.

Anyone know someone who would like an old CRT in the vicinity of South Florida? My mom has one in her garage that she would like to get rid of, and I would like to get it to someone who wants it.

I'm playing with tree generation, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Here, you can see the trees growing over time, and also, healthy vs unhealthy trees.

A grid of procedurally generated trees. The trees are arranged showcasing stages of growth from left to right. The front row of trees has bright blue leaves and does a vertical loop once fully grown. Rows towards the back have fewer, brown leaves, and the last row has no leaves at all.

I have unlocked forbidden tree generation technology.

An image of a three dimensional computer generated tree in a video game. The tree is brown with blue leaves. The tree is tall and thin and does a large vertical loop in the middle of its trunk.

Been looking at Discord alternatives and I'd like to shout out Fluxer for having the coolest vision for the future. The app is still a bit unstable so I wouldn't put all of your eggs into the basket. But I do recommend moving at least *some* of your eggs from the Discord basket to the Fluxer one.

I've done it! I've made art! I recently finished writing "The Warden" which is the second short story I've ever written. I can't wait to perform it for VRTravellers (it launches on the 28th, you should come!) Writing this has already been really good for the soul. Would recommend.

I admit I'm cheating a little, but I've chosen to put where I encountered the song rather than where it originates from because I think it's more interesting that way. 10 soundtracks to get to know me:

- Paradise of E (Remix) - API - Platform Racer 2
- Jive.mid - Yamaha XG - Mystery of Time and Space
- Conquest of Paridise - Vangelis - The Planetarium at Kecskemét
- Arcadia - Kevin MacLeod - Creeper World & Kerbal Space Program
- Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When? - ZUN -
Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom
- 9-bit Expedition - Lifeformed - Dustforce
- 56-12-2 - Pedro Silva - Omori
- Rock Over Japan - Triple H - Mawaru Penguindrum
- Void - eebrozgi - Zero Ranger & Void Stranger
- Compression of Time - Nobuo Uematsu - VRTravellers: The Pilot

In my estimation, a lot of the people who have problems with Bluesky are so used to platforms just serving up the content buffet that they're unwilling to do the work to have a good experience here. That work is the social part of social media.

In line with the frequency illusion, I've started seeing more interactive and non-competitive worlds in VRChat (though of course they were there all along). I've really enjoyed "Write a Letter" by Elliot112. Lots of love and also pain engraved into that world.
