I love being Minnesotan. Somali people have built a community here over 30 years. They are an integral part of Minneapolis and nearly every suburb surrounding it. I have coached Somali high school students, I have seen them grow into adults and start families. They are Minnesotans just as much as me

According to Google there are about 111,000 persons of Somali ancestry living in MN out of 5.8 million folks. That’s about 2%. Over half of those were born in the U.S. And we certainly aren’t letting any more in at this point. Minnesota isn’t being “taken over”.

I cut my parents off because they did a series of very stupid things after I warned them that it was all very stupid and they didn’t listen to me. I told them if they went through with it, it would destroy relationships and they did it anyway. Well now my son doesn’t remember his grandparents.

A bit of anecdotal election news: my precinct went for Trump in 2024 but as of yesterday there are more houses with DFL candidate signs in their yard than MNGOP signs in the yard on my street. I’ve lived in and been around this area for 20 years. That’s never happened before.
