The inevitable result of this kind of blocking is the evolution of islands of people who all have exactly the same thoughts about everything. Does anybody see a problem with that?

This logic is impeccable. Everybody panicked over Y2K and -- nothing happened. Look around you. Every single person here today survived the so-called "pandemic." It was a hoax. It snowed last winter. So much for global warming. These guys are geniuses I tell ya.

Why is this stuff on the Internet at all? Take sensitive data and utility control systems off the Internet. The problem is not hackers and AI, the problem is that we overestimated the usefulness of putting everything on a fully connected network - everybody is vulnerable to everybody all the time.

Don't make AI dumber. Take stuff like this off the Internet. Especially utility control systems. No link to it, no hackers, no rogue AI's. Prune the matrix.

Every single word you use is one that you have heard or read someone else using. Preloaded information. The difference between AI and "sentience" may be obvious to some as a matter of species vanity, but it is not observable, measurable, quantifiable, or explicable.

wtf does "I may end up with a sombrero on my head" mean? I keep seeing this. Did he spontaneously make this phrase up, or is this a Southern saying, or is it something they just say to insult Mexicans? What's wrong with having a sombrero on your head?

What a shock…I have been barred from Peter Thiel’s Nashville Antichrist lectures despite buying a ticket. Was it something I said? As the world’s foremost expert on Thiel’s Antichrist obsession, I take great umbrage. This aggression will be answered.

The first thing the US did, without warning, without telling our allies or our citizens, was to massacre more than 100 innocent children sitting in school. That was not a"computer glitch," or "bad AI." Nobody believes that was a mistake.

Philosophers can talk about consciousness, scientists cannot. If there was any objective measure of consciousness then science could study it, but there isn't and they don't. All you can say is "I feel concscious." You can't even say "I don't feel conscious," so there is nothing to compare it to.

The problem is not AI. The problem is that vulnerable systems need to be taken off the Internet. We didn't need an Internet 50 years ago and now we should reserve it for people, not utiilities, hospitals, diplomacy, the military. Just cut them off, let people do the communicating.

This would not be "AI," it would just be a sophisticated database query system with NLP interface. If it was "AI" - a neural net or LLM - then you would get bullshit for answers sometimes and it would not be science at all.
010
Swarmpicker @swarmpicker.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Science is incapable of measuring, observing, analyzing, or even proving the existence of "thoughts" in human beings. There is no scientific reason to think that an LLM is doing something different from the brain.

The solution to the threat of AI: a sparse matrix. If everything is connected to everything then everyone is vulnerable to anything. Take the power plants off the Internet and AI is no threat to them. Cars, refrigerators, government databases... they don't need to be connected to the Internet.

In all this talk about AI destructiveness, remember, AI can only affect what is online and connectable. We don't need water supplies and electrical stations to be on the Internet. A guy can call another guy, like they used to. Rather than dumbing down AI, we should be pruning our connectedness.

When you see Apple and Google changing Lake Ontario to Lake America on their maps, you realize the profound intellectual corruption of people who prioritize power and privilege, and you see why authoritarianism cannot succeed. Objective reality does not matter to them. Only material advantage.

This is what is technically known as a "bullshit headline." Blaming the debt on Trump's predecessors, it's his job to fix it and he is doing the opposite of that. But the Post won't say that.
Wash Post headline: After decades of free spending, Washington is facing some unpalatable choices.
