I feel like the debate about what parts of AI are good and what parts are bad should wait until we solve the worldwide crisis caused by the fact that almost of all of its evangelists in both tech and govt are morally, intellectually, and ethically unequipped to oversee it, when not downright evil.

Part of the post-Trump repairs to democracy must be inspectors general. What if we house them in the legislative branch, where a president cannot fire them? Courts could serve as a check.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

Renee Good's family filed two lawsuits today. The first, against, USG, is a standard wrongful death. The second is a Klan Act lawsuit against Jonathan Ross, AND STEPHEN MILLER and Greg Bovino. It names Nick Shirley and Christopher Rufo as non-party co-conspirators for their racist propaganda.
44. At all relevant times, Defendants Ross, Miller, Noem, Lyons, Homan,
Bovino, and the John Doe Federal Agents acted under color of federal law and within the
scope of a joint enterprise with the private actors described below. Defendant
Lewandowski acted in part under color of federal law and in part, as alleged below, as a
private person, his federal status having been limited to a temporary part-time designation
that his conduct exceeded. Shirley, Rufo, and Ben Bergquam, and the other non-party
private actors described below, agreed to and in fact participated in the conspiracy alleged
here: each acted in concert with, and with the knowledge and encouragement of, federal
officials.

Inhumane civil confinement violates Due Process if officials manifest “deliberate indifference” or the conditions are “punitive.” Judge Kaplan found both. Evidence suggested that “harsh conditions” were “a deliberate feature” to incentivize self-deportation. 5/5
Asthis Court explained when it issued the PI, the administration's actions with respect
to noncitizens illegally present in the country and the conduct by ICE staff and contractors at 26 Fed
"suggest that harsh conditions of confinement are a deliberate feature" of the administration's massdeportation program 49 That conclusion has been reinforced by passage of time and the full development of the record. Since this Court issued the PI, the administration has continued to
attempt to detain and deport as many noncitizens illegally present in the country as possible, as fast
as possible, and with as little procedure as possible. Part of that program has been its self-deportation
project, which, as the administration has described it, "offers illegal aliens a choice: leave voluntarily with [flederal support and financial assistance or face strict enforcement and penalties. '500 That the
harsh conditions of confinement at 26 Fed are one aspect of this "strict enforcement and penalties" is supported by the fact that ICE has papered walls and windows on the fifth, ninth, and tenth floors with flyers asking detainees, "Do You want to Return Home?" and incentivizing them with money to "[a]sk[] to return home now." These flyers serve as an ever-present visual reminder of the
Hobbesian choice posed to detainees and described by an ICE officer at 26 Fed: self-deport or
"remain detained" for years.
