As Magpies and Magicks is the final book of its trilogy, I was consumed with tying up loose ends and giving everyone a suitable ending. Mysterious foreshadowing is fun and easy to write until you need to make good on it all! I struggled with the actual ending a fair bit, too. #HorrorWritersChat

haha. Well, the "pl" part is when I get ideas for stuff that happens down the line. I write the scene like ten chapters later and then work them together. Salmonweird (my low fantasy) in each case I've written the last chapter shortly after the first few. I have lists of notes of stuff to work in

My wife has been trying to prevent permanent disability for the past year and a half since her emergency C-section damaged muscles that weakened her torso and spine, and there's a shocking lack of fucks given systemically/culturally for postnatal care, despite how common long-term complications are.

Just saw the WORST advice to give on a general level, which is to just quit your day job, willy-nilly, to become a writer. The suggestion was to let yourself go feral/get backed into a corner and figure it out. And oh my god,can we just KILL the idea that one has to struggle/starve to make art? No.
