Alabama’s lieutenant governor, who also serves as president of the state Senate, posted a 7-0 Republican gerrymander calling for his party to eliminate both Black Democrats. Every seat on a map like this would be dark red and heavily white

Tweet from Alabama’s Republican Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth:

“Alabama Republicans control both U.S.
Senate seats, all constitutional offices, every state judgeship, and have legislative supermajorities, so it makes perfect sense for us to hold every congressional seat, too.

We are bright red state, and our congressional map should show it.”

Included is a gerrymandered congressional map where all seven districts would be solidly Republican and majority white.

Example gerrymander tweeted by Alabama’s Republican Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth where all seven congressional districts would be solidly Republican and majority white. Several districts split the heavily Black and Democratic-favoring Black Belt region running across south-central Alabama, which is currently located in two districts represented by Black Democrats.

Mission Accomplished. The goal in these all-party primaries is to always get a Dem into the Top 2 - no matter how red the seat is - because you never know what the future holds. Here it has the added benefit of keeping this seat empty for another month...which makes Mike Johnson's life miserable.
