Celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day in the Face of Political Erasure
Guest Opinion Falling on the second Monday of October, Indigenous Peoples Day is a chance to collectively celebrate the history, cultures, and contributions of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians to the United States. While not a federally recognized holiday, the need for such a day of learning and reflection could not be greater. Indigenous Peoples Day shares a date with better known day of observance, Columbus Day. Cristoforo Colombo, otherwise known as Christopher Columbus, is celebrated by our nation, despite his never having stepped foot on what would become United States’ soil.

Congress betrayed the Boundary Waters. Time for Minnesota to act. • Minnesota Reformer
Minnesotans can make a powerful statement by passing an amendment to the state Constitution to enshrine such a prohibition.

Calling for a cease-fire in the evening does not somehow erase calling for the genocide of an entire civilization the same day.
This is erratic and reckless leadership. In fact it isn't leadership at all. It has never been leadership.
It has always been authoritarianism, white supremacy, and greed.
And to think this even remotely represents Christianity is just beyond comprehension.
It still must be opposed. It still must end.
Our country deserves better. Our men and women in uniform deserve better. Our kids deserve better. Our world deserves better.

571 homicides by citizens and 41 by undocumented people. 41 is less than 571, btw. I have not heard anyone state that no crime is committed by undocumented people, but that most crime is committed by US citizens that were born in the US, which is factually true.

Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept." Astonishing thing for a judge to do.
Philadelphia, September 17, 1787: "Well, Dr. Franklin, what do we have?" "A republic, if you
can keep it."
With a judicial finger in the constitutional dike,
It is so ORDERED.
SIGNED this 31st day of February, 2026.
