In my opinion piece for Al Jazeera, I argue why the conversation on compensation and liability for Loss and Damage, ruled out by wealthy countries in the Paris climate deal a decade ago, can no longer be postponed. Read here: www.aljazeera.com/opinions/202... #Reparations #LossandDamage

ADB and AIIB were warned about climate risks at Nepal’s Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project, yet key assessments were still not carried out. As Recourse’s @sunilnpl.bsky.social tells @scroll.in: “There is a clear lapse of their own accountability duties.” Banks must be held accountable.

Are World Bank Group guarantees really green? Its agency MIGA claims to have raised $3.54b in climate finance by de-risking private investments. But without banning gas, MIGA risks enabling banks like Santander to invest in climate-busting projects. 📽 Watch our campaigner Marj explain more

More pressingly, the burden of air pollution is not shared equally. - Communities in poorer regions suffer disproportionately. - Young children and older adults account for the majority of deaths. - Inequalities in exposure, combined with socioeconomic disparities, exacerbate vulnerability.
