AIIB's first climate policy loan in Latin America, VERDES Brazil, raises traceability and financialisation concerns, says expert Julia Gerlo. For better outcomes, the bank must ensure reforms protect climate, social priorities and fiscal space. Read more: re-course.org/newsupdates/... #AIIB

“In policy-based lending, the AIIB should publish all loan agreements and establish transparent mechanisms to track how disbursed funds are used. Electrification can drive the energy transition – but how it is powered matters. Following @iea.org's report on #electrification and the #35by35 agenda, we are calling for an approach based on sustainable renewables, not nuclear or fossil lock-in. ⚡ Read more: climatenetwork.org/2026/09/22/i...

This week, the IMF Board concluded its Review of Program Design and Conditionality (RoC) without integrating climate into its approach. Our new report asks: What happens next? Does IMF lending help countries reduce climate vulnerability, or only reproduce carbon-intensive development pathways?

Below, smaller text reads: New research reveals how IMF programmes reinforce extractive dependence and constrain climate-resilient development.
