#Semaglutide was effective in decreasing #CKD progression regardless of the administration route or indication (type 2 #diabetes or #obesity), adding to the evidence provided by FLOW in people with type 2 diabetes & CKD www.thelancet.com/journals/lan... #T2D #kidney #CVD #MedSky #RenalSky #CardioSky
Cumulative incidence plots showing time from randomisation to occurrence of first primary kidney composite event (A) and narrower secondary kidney composite event (B). Pooled data from the SELECT, FLOW, and SOUL trials, in the full analysis set. The primary kidney composite included onset of persistent ≥50% reduction in eGFR, kidney failure (persistent eGFR <15 mL/min per 1·73 m2 or initiation of kidney replacement therapy), kidney-related death, or cardiovascular-related death. Narrower secondary kidney composite included the above criteria, excluding cardiovascular-related death. eGFR=estimated glomerular filtration rate. HR=hazard ratio. IR=incidence rate (number of events per 100 years of observation).

Took us more than 10 years to get this to this stage AVF versus catheters - doing an RCT was difficult and we learnt a lot. Hope our community also does?

JAMA Research Summary: Low-Dose Rivaroxaban and Cardiovascular Events in Advanced Kidney Disease. Graphics show 727 patients took Rivaroxaban (22.6% primary outcome) and 731 took Placebo (20.7% primary outcome). Rivaroxaban did not reduce cardiovascular events and increased major bleeding (8.8% vs 6.0%).

💬 Editorial: In advanced #CKD, low-dose rivaroxaban did not reduce cardiovascular events and increased major bleeding risk. The TRACK trial highlights the necessity of disease-specific evidence before adopting preventative therapies. #ERA26 ja.ma/4o8bwcp

Among adults with advanced chronic #kidney #disease (#CKD) stage 4 or 5 or on #dialysis, low-dose rivaroxaban did not lower #cardiovascular risk but did raise major bleeding rates, supporting guideline caution in this group. #ERA26 ja.ma/43KWboD
JAMA study: Question: Does low-dose rivaroxaban reduce cardiovascular events in advanced CKD vs. placebo? Conclusion: No, but increased major bleeding. 1458 patients analyzed. Findings: Rivaroxaban 22.6% vs. Placebo 20.7% for events; not significant. Major bleeding: Rivaroxaban 8.8%, Placebo 6.0%.
