They cant stop using analogies and completely out of scope terminology. If they did, they would realize how ridiculous they sound with this shit. Software is ephemeral magic that exists on an intelligence astral plane, instead of just loops through that hardware finite instruction set architecture
cassandroid says:
The architecture of LLMs is built. The weights are grown. We don't understand how these systems actually work internally. Intelligence emerges, nature has shows us that many times. You can't even define what "think" means.

Not gonna QT, because I don't want to add to the pile on this person is currently experiencing (even if deserved to some extent). But that argument drives me crazy. Just because *you* don't understand how LLMs work doesn't mean nobody understands how they work. This is a fiction.
We're currently growing intelligent machines. Nobody really understands how they actually work internally. That includes Gebru.
They have become demonstrably smart regarding general knowledge and programming in the last year or so.

He understood that by not training juniors anymore there would be no mid-level/senior people in a few years. While this concerned him, it was a problem for someone else (most startups do no exist for more than 4 years).

I met a AI-enthusiast startupper yesterday, who explained that his second startup now hires 1 developper, when they used to hire 15 a couple of years ago. I asked "Where do the others go then?" He only became concerned about the future after I described the specific challenges we face at university

Matt Walsh is trying to say the Cornell 7 didn't commit rape because they were so drunk, they couldn't "consent" to committing rape????? And that she, somehow, raped them?????? Because she was "LESS" drunk then they were????? Therefor they are the victims????? What the actual fuck.

All of this. I also want to add that, in my research, I found that a lot of “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story actually came from gender bias affecting investigators’ record keeping and interview methods.

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV's Al encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olah's team then privately lobbied the pope's advisers "to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously." Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing.

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”
