Killing civilians strengthens Hamas.
Infographic titled “You Can’t Bomb Away an Idea.” Against images of devastated Gaza neighborhoods and grieving civilians, a circular diagram shows: civilian death and destruction → grief and anger → Hamas recruitment → new fighters → more war → civilian death and destruction. Armed Hamas fighters appear on one side, while another group of civilians faces the sunrise with the words, “Many still choose a different future.” The image concludes: “Protect civilians. Break the cycle.”

An alternative to the diatribes being flung over the Ed Sheeran-Robert Kraft-Macklemore controversy.
I respect Christianity, Judaism, and Islam as faiths that have given millions of people meaning, community, moral purpose, and hope. I also believe that beliefs and movements within every religion can and should be criticized when they cause harm.

I oppose religious nationalism—Christian, Jewish, or Islamic—when it uses religion or ethnicity to give one group greater rights, political power, protection, or human worth than another. That does not mean denying any people’s history, faith, culture, security, or right to self-determination. No people’s rights should depend on denying the equal dignity and basic rights of another.

Criticism of a government or nationalist movement is not an attack on the religion or ethnicity associated with it. Christians are not Christian nationalism. Jews are not the Israeli government or Jewish nationalism. Muslims are not Islamic nationalism. People should not be held collectively responsible for what governments or political movements do in their name.

I stand with Christians, Jews, and Muslims, and against hatred toward any of them. I also stand against any political movement that makes citizenship, equality, dignity, or basic human rights depend on having the right religion or ancestry.

A warm, realistic illustration of a Jewish rabbi and Muslim imam standing together in prayer at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. The rabbi wears a kippah and prayer shawl; the imam wears a white kufi and dark embroidered robe. White flowers and a handwritten note reading “Many Peoples, One City, A Brighter Tomorrow” rest beside them. One World Trade Center rises in the background beneath a golden sunset. Text across the sky offers a blessing for New York, emphasizing compassion, human dignity, peace, and “salaam and shalom.” Banners and smaller inscriptions reinforce themes of kindness, justice, belonging, remembrance, healing, shared humanity, and building a more compassionate future.
