I see. I'm surprised though and it is of course very disappointing that the council cares so little about the other businesses up there who will be finding things very tough thanks to Reeves's NI tax slapped on top of everything else. Hoping Healy will reverse or reduce that for SME at least.

He was in an impossible position re Brexit. What is it, around 55% would rather we were in the EU. What about the rest? How would you have suggested he handled that? It'll be interesting to see what Burnham does. Not much different I suspect.

There must be a proper contest - not a Burnham shoe in, - where candidates debate and their ideas are tested. My hunch is that Burnham's supporters would shy away from that - with good reason.

I think many of Starmer's problems come from hanging on to people he shouldn't - top of which is his chancellor. I hope whoever takes over shows better judgement. But I'd like to know what Burnham's policies are and has he a mandate for them? Labour needs to be very careful here.

Sorry, I haven't been on Bluesky for a time. Events have certainly moved on since then. If there's a Burnham coronation I think Labour will regret it, but whoever takes over is going to have a very hard time convincing the electorate to vote for them again.
