I pointed out ALL of those wide 20mph benefits in my interview for this article, but of course my answers were heavily cherry picked to fit the frustrating 'balanced' format which gives equal balance to those with a grudge against reducing speeds and adding a few seconds onto their journey times.

UK Chancellor can easily increase income tax personal allowance by £3,000 a year. It will boost basic rate taxpayers by £600 a year. Millions will be helped. Benefit to higher rate taxpayers can be clawed back. The cost of £30bn can be met by ending bank subsidies, £100bn over the last 3 years.

Climate crisis likely behind devastating Nepal-Tibet floods that killed more than 1,300, first study finds
Scientists say global heating was a destabilising factor in collapse of 200,000 sq metre glacier in August Climate breakdown probably weakened the glacier that collapsed causing catastrophic floods and killing hundreds of people in Nepal and Tibet last month, the first scientific study of the disaster has found. Researchers identified unusually warm conditions before the glacier’s collapse, which sent an avalanche of 110m cubic metres (3,885 cu ft) of snow and ice into the valley below. This triggered flash floods on an almost unprecedented scale, hitting communities downstream without warning. Continue reading...

National Strategy for 20mph Speed Limits - Scotlands Road Safety Framework
The Scottish Government is committed to the implementation of 20 mph speed limits on those roads where it is appropriate to do so, by the end of March 2026. Our 2025 Programme for Government firms up this position with a commitment of “Making our roads safer and reducing the numbers killed or injured, through delivery of 20 mph speed limits on appropriate roads by the end 2025-26”.
