What are the fried things? Onions?

This seems very truthy, it's unclear with whom journalists are talking, even more so than 'unnamed source' from the Tories/Labour/LDs.

Though in retrospect the concerns about social credit scores and face scans to purchase a phone seem somewhat quaint.

Yeah, I'm sometimes tempted to make colleagues listen to the CEOs of the companies they lionise, but I suspect it would make no difference.

Used to be embarrassed for the people who I thought were smart that fell for the 3 card monte AI shit coming from the world's most evil people. I am no longer embarrassed for them, just realized that they were never all that smart to begin with.

Again, sooner or later every single maintainer is going to have to confront the fact that their projecr will be used to farm GitHub star clout by the Internet's most psychopathic vibe coders There's a reason Wikipedia brought the hammer down IMMEDIATELY: they know full well who's out there

Ignoring how they were used as a tool of state policy there are the simple questions of where the land came from and who performed the menial labour (while not being eligible for the benefits of communal living)

Because every MP active on social media is on there and they are either engaged in a process of moving the consensus rightwards or are having their brains cooked by those who are.

A TV guest won't be able to mention that it started while the British were still in post and pre-partition without the host interrupting to qualify and put 'the opposing view'.

Instructive to see that what was then a fairly clear reading of the Nakba from the New Historians has since become occluded. Specifically with regards to timelines and ordering of events.

From the interviews 'collapsed from within' fits the circumstances more precisely.
Only in the last few months did it become obvious that they were going to move against us. James and I both thought they would probably wait until after a General Election. I was surprised by the timing of it more than anything else. They decided to completely disable the campaign the day before a General Election. It was, to put it mildly, a strategically suboptimal decision.

UKICE: Do you have any reflections about that October, when the thing started to fall apart, about what happened or how it happened?

TB: Rudd had been planning it. They had to wait until our last big march was over but it was pretty clear that Patrick Hennegan, someone who had originally been brought into the campaign against Rudd's wishes, was up to stuff with him. He had virtually stopped coming into the office by then but he was spotted going off to Finsbury [Rudd's London Public Relations firm

The Teamd emoticons are all distorted in a - presumably - unintentionally hilarious way (something I found out when a death of a colleague was announced on teams and people reacted with the various Teams sad faces)

white supremacists took over the US government and in two years the country has become a laughingstock no one wants to work in or come to and planted a bomb in the global economy that can not be undone all because women asked not to be r*ped and Black people asked to not be shot by cops.

There is a bleak sort of pleasure in telling people who bring up AI in casual conversation, “Actually, I’m one of the authors AI stole from. Not an exaggeration. The judge ordered them to send me a check.” It hits them different when it’s a real person saying it.

When AI guys claim that LLMs are conscious because the way they work is very complicated
XKCD where one person says "I've found a way to turn a 52-card deck into 53 cards by shuffling and rearranging them."
Second person says "No, you haven't."
First person says "How do you know?! I challenge you to find an error in my math!"

What Braverman says here is 100% false. Mauritius was a poor, plantation economy when the British took over from France in 1810, and they kept it that way until 1968. The economic miracle that turned it into a diverse, upper-middle income economy came after independence. bsky.app/profile/jord...

I’m not much interested in the internal politics of the Greens but I will note here that the key difference between “chauvinistic militants” and “egalitarian liberals” on Palestinians is that the former roar for their eradication while the latter look pained and tell everyone to chill out about it.

There's a legal obligation on signatories of The Genocide Convention to act to prevent a genocide (that doesn't require a finding of genocide, just a serious risk that it might occur).
