In the last almost decade, I've not played as many games but Final Fantasy XIV has remained constant this entire time because of the compelling story, the setting, the music and some of the people I've met along the way. I'd say that is the most influential game for myself of all time truly.

I left off a lot of adventure games I was into like the Leisure Suit Larry series (so weird to play as a kid LOL), the other Monkey Island games, Bloodnet, etc. Other stuff like Resident Evil 1 & 2, Doom (1993). I left off the biggest one of all which is Final Fantasy XIV. That is huge for me now.

This was so tough because it's a mixture of games from my youth and more recent times. There were so many games I left off from when I was a kid, but there's a handful here that stuck with me in some way. I still can't get the Sonic 1 & 2 soundtracks out of my head though even today.

Had a nice time chatting with Virginia Postrel about early online virtual worlds. Some of that made it into this article. #VirtualWorlds #MMO #C64

The origins of the metaverse go back a little bit further to Lucasfilm’s Habitat on the Commodore 64 which came out 3 years before Fujitsu Habitat. Both virtual worlds are related though as Fujitsu were inspired by the original and worked with the creators of the original Habitat.

はい、そうです^^ ぜひお楽しみに。こちらは先日行ったテストの動画です。

Thank you! If you ever archive your old design files and find anything of interest, I would love to see it. Now that I know Teleparc was a magazine, I’m going to try and see if it is on the Internet Archive.

Thank you. It is hard to find Japanese users on western social media so when you shared my video, it really helped. I think Fujitsu Habitat is just as important as other virtual spaces like Second Life or World of Warcraft and I want the western world to know about it.

I’ve seen the teleparc logo before on the Habitat II website. That’s really cool! Do you have any copies of teleparc saved? The original creators of Habitat are friends with Neal Stephenson so that makes sense ^^ Snow Crash was required reading for the USA developers of Habitat II.

昔、富士通の仮想世界サービス「Habitat」を使ったことはありますか？現在、そのサービスを復活させる作業を進めており、かつてHabitatをプレイしていた方々を探しています。

If you love games or you work in the industry, you should totally check out my bae @eddcoates.bsky.social new book. It looks absolutely amazing and I’m super proud of him. It’s a useful reference book and would be great for the coffee table too imo just to browse through ❤️

So obsessed with Silo right now. The new season is slow in places, but I’m still engrossed in the world and want to learn more so I’m reading the books at the same time.

Did you acquire anything else from Oath? Specifically, any Quantum Link related data? I work on a project to restore Lucasfilm's Habitat (neohabitat.org) and Club Caribe which ran on Q-Link and I'd always been hopeful some kind of backup remained somewhere.

The question for Nigel Farage now is whether it's less embarrassing to un-resign and claim that was an establishment stitchup, or to spend a month competing with a bin. Neither is exactly a *great* option. Neither solves his ongoing scandals. And it's a mess entirely of his own making.
