The first piece of media that ever scared me? Difficult to answer, as I have never known fear of any man or beast.

Your character manually marking up the map goes a long way to making this palatable. It's a very grand illusion but it works to convince you that you're in a real place. I think it's an underrated thing!

With most games it's really obvious which doors you can and can't open for whatever reason, or there are just unnaturally few rooms, but Silent Hill really does the work to make you feel lost in a space without actually making you get lost? If that makes sense?

One of my favourite things about the Silent Hill games I've played is checking all the doors. I know that probably sounds ridiculous. I like it when you're in these reasonably realistic spaces and you have to manually try to open everything yourself. Feels satisfying. Got into the bogs mate, nice.

BUT IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOO WEEEEEEIIIIIIIRRRRD-UHHHHHHH

I've gone on about this before so I won't do it again, not right now. It's just that I've undergone a new wave of aghastness at this thing. I can't believe it exists. I'm not even trying to be a dick here. I don't think it's a horrible game to play. The exploration is the sort of thing I enjoy!

Honestly just look at this! What?! HUHHH??

Look, I know this isn't normal, but I am a bit obsessed with that Funko Fusion game. Have you played/seen it? How did this happen? Talented people worked on that game! It's the sort of mad crossover thing I would generally enjoy, except it's Funko Pops so you can't even tell what anything is.

No I have never watched that, I assume it is on YouTube. That would be why.

Oh yeah, fair warning by the way; you’re going to read some of these reviews and think I’m a fucking wanker. With respect, I’m not. You’re the wanker, mate.

Hearing @stuartgipp.bsky.social , @demontomatodave.bsky.social and @shoogles.bsky.social go in crazy depth about why Sonic 3 & Knuckles is one of the best games ever made for ten hours. Lovely banter and discussion.

Congrats and thanks for all the amazing episodes. However, in a Shinobi episode, when there was a discussion about environmental traps that crush you, Stuart said "Joe Musquashi" and no one laughed. That injustice really stuck with me.

Also I'm assuming you mean melee combat rather than a shooter? If a shooter is OK, then The Chaos Engine.

I dunno man. I don't really play video games.

Serious attempt to help; I'm assuming you mean combat in real time, not a cut to a turn-based system?

today marks a whopper of an anniversary as we released the very first episode of Retronauts on October 4, 2006. Twenty years of podcasts! Thank you for listening for two entire decades. What's your favorite episode or Retronauts memory?
