I would like to apologize first of all for liking a skeet, and second of all for being bad at apologies. I'm not good at the social stuff. I empathize only by selfishly imagining myself in the other's place - but that's no excuse. And it's inexcusable that I'm starting by making excuses. (1/8)

Kant avec Sade was undoubtably great. I wish there had been something like a Hegel avec Gödel though...

the world would not absolutely be better if more people read hegel. it might even be worse, if hegel is so needed. but I would like to see a shadow of that world anyway, and so I live.

the proper solution to nihilism (the sensation that things don't matter) is not to insist naively on something really mattering, but to realize that it doesn't matter if things don't matter. "the universe doesn't care about you." but why should one care about what the universe cares about?

Federal health workers are expressing fear and alarm after a website called “DEI Watch List” published the photos, names and public information of a number of workers across health agencies, describing them at one point as “targets.” The website lists mostly Black employees.

the notion of a linear arrangement of politics (socialists as left, liberals as center, conservatives as right) doesn't take into account the triangularity of these positions: conservatives hate socialists for being too liberal, and liberals hate socialists for being too conservative.

Today's Super Supportive chapter was amazing. “Here,” said Alden. “Take this.” Natalie reached up to touch her interface. “Are you trying to pay me to cook for you again?” she asked when she saw the argold he’d sent her. “Always. But not with this."

My formula for Deleuze's pure difference is to reject the principles of identity (A = A) and non-contradiction (A =/= ~A) as negative chains of reason. Then, we get something non-identical (A =/= A) and contradictory (A = ~A), which is positive pure difference. Deleuzians, is this correct?

It's the Boner Cabaret. A group of men are all aligned on stage. The swish their boners around in perfect choreographed unison. We smash cut to a Nuremburg rally with the caption "while revelers carelessly spent their marks at the boner cabaret, the Nazi party was rapidly gaining power."

there's one place where I disagree with Žižek: I do think postmodernism constitutes a genuine historical break. a world without the internet is as idealist as a world without big cities. a non-deleuzian life is no longer possible. a non-pathological ethics can only be a nostalgic regress.

possibly the most deadly aircraft accident in the US in years - only this time it doesn't seem to be an attack from without, but an error from within. not a clash between an aircraft and an obstacle, but between two aircrafts. it is the worst of tragedies that stupidity can be as deadly as malice.

The notion that the particular comes first in the order of being and that the universal comes first in the order of explanation is strictly equal to Hegel's notion of the owl of Minerva. When an epoch is present, we can note only its actuality. When an epoch is past, we can note its potentiality.

This is an interesting thread on decentralization! It showcases how a project based on immanent freedom (or permissiveness) always has to face Popper's paradox of tolerance. If it accepts the wager, assumes decentralization as freedom, it must exclude (not tolerate) those who enjoy centralization.

the marxist lesson of fetishism is that we don't obey a king because he is king. it's the opposite: he is king because we obey him. in the same manner, capitalism won't end even with the death of all capitalists. rather, capitalists will disappear only when capitalism ends.

Hegel's project can be interpreted metaphysically as an organic reconciliation between Spinoza and Fitche, following Schelling's natural solution. It can also be interpreted non-metaphysically as a radicalizing of Kant by criticizing critiques, positing failure as the absolute ground.

coming to terms with dying is easier - with the right mindset, the inconsequentiality can feel liberating. coming to terms with dying unhappy is somewhat harder. I'll have regrets, a thousand "what if's. but in the end, I'll just have to (not) live with it.
