At this point I'm terms of politics and voting, here's my take: I'm going to vote for the least worst candidate. I'm going to do that at the primary level and the general election, even if I'm voting for different people and the candidate I vote for in the general election is one I voted against.

My first memory of Battletech was my cousin calling me to come down the street and referee a game he was playing. He sent me home when I didn't rule in his favor. Ended up buying that box set, and the 3025 TRO, and some lead minis with steel wire antennae you had to cut. That got me started.

It probably says something that the most use I've gotten out of project management courses has been planning out a development cycle for my miniatures painting area including consideration for 1, 3, and 5 year expansion/modification. And I'll note this is a hobby I cycle in and out of doing.

Actually this whole WoW in D&D thing reminds me of a bit of advice for DMs. It's a corollary for the understanding that your players may go off course, and how to get them back on course: Be prepared for them to stay on course. I will explain.

So I've switched to using witchsky.app as my front end for the bsky AT protocol. Basically, it's an open source alternative third party web app fork of bsky that gives you all the bsky content with the same formatting but...better. It also bypasses the age assurance/verification bullshit.

Alright let's take stock of the current worldbuilding effort. It's a backburner item so it's going slow but low and slow makes for good cooking. Most of the time. High magic setting (sort of), in that there's lots of magic around, but it's largely ritual magic or alchemy. Spellcasting is rare.

I don't drink alcohol (don't care for the taste or the experience) so I'm not familiar with the varieties. But I've found that every time I think of something for world building and ask, "Oh, can you make alcohol with that?" The answer has always been yes, someone, somewhere, has at least tried.

I've been reading through Katharine Briggs' Dictionary of Fairies and while I'm not halfway through yet I've noticed that there are a great many names for the same idea. Some are proper nouns, others are regional. But you have a consistent split between goblins and brownies.

If my giants are related to the moons, which themselves are demigods, then perhaps I should incorporate that into their nature more. I like the idea of giants that slowly fade from the world as they grow, becoming star-stuff until they become true celestials as constellations.

RIP British fantasy and sci-fi illustrator, modeller, and art director John Blanche. This fantastic artist was especially well-known for his work on Warhammer (including 40K, etc). He retired from work at Games Workshop three years ago only. He was 77.

Kiara Fiordan, Bulwark of Lurian - A miniature in plate and gambeson armor with a horned helmet covering most of their face. Lorian Bulwark of the Dawn's Break - A golem-like construct covered in full plate armor with a heavy gorget, holding a metal maul in two hands. The armor is silver and brass, with purple cloth and white leather.

Krixis the Gilded, War-Chief - A human sized portly draconic figure points to the right while shouting orders and swinging a sword in its left hand. Had the idea of prophecy as a sort of curse. No not like that. Like the prophecy itself is the curse. A god of Fate binding someone's future, removing free will, removing chance and choice. More of a geas, though potentially without the target being known.
