I just handed chapter 1 of my Urban Fantasy to my friends. It's as good as I am able to get it. It's not a draft anymore. I can't laugh and say 'first draft problems'. I really really like it, and I hope I have enough distance from it to mean it is good. #writing

We've built a writing community that is supportive, welcoming, and there for others. We give workshops at the libraries, host writing groups and we go to cons together. I've never felt this support, and I love it. We're working to make this the norm for more people.

In a perfect world, I’d still be in bed. Instead of being home asleep, here I was leaning against my car and clutching a cup of hot coffee, which was the only thing keeping me awake and sane at this hour. Nothing good ever came from mornings when a message from work woke me before the sun had even risen. At least I wasn’t the one who was dead; so my day was a little better than whoever the text had been about. Another day, another murder scene.
