A lot of warm words that legally commits you to nothing. But they will have an exciting taskforce looking at a possible train from the UK to Germany at some future time. EU law prevents large areas of real substance.

Plenty more to come as a single maker will have to get separate approvals for permutations of the same kits.

Its tough w/o a battery but still easier than agile (unless you have the mother of all automations running)

With the right combo (IOF, ev import fixed export, Agile and fixed eg) you can still stay ahead on export but its harder than the old days when it was easy for anyone to get higher exports than imports.

I have a battery but thats more or less how I run mine. I overheat and underheat the HP depending on cheap rate or not. Its not the most eff way to run the HP on paper but still optimal overall.

That pipeline will largely be delivered. It either has planning and a CFD or will do shortly.

Can't comment on the former w/out reading the planning submission but the latter is usually a tedious argument about how many deliveries you can put on rural roads

Wider westminster problem that. Any CX that tries to do any sensible simplification gets internal / external pressure & papers screaming about a 'pasty tax'.

While I smiled in sympathy at the joke about protecting the peace and quiet of the A413 its prob fair to say that in an electrified world much of the road noise assumptions fall apart.

If you are willing to pay enough there is always insurance. And there is some state backed insurance still I think 🤔 Not sure how you take a nod from iran 'nothing bad will happen' to an insurer 🤷

Sure, but thats outside of the bill/tariff context. BUS is mostly fine now (outside perhaps of listed buildings). I think contacts points and good Gov/independent advice is probably as big an issue as cost now.

If you cut all electricity levies you'd give another good nudge to the spark gap (electricity-to-gas price ratio) making HPs cheaper to run and pay back any costs faster. And also benefit the worst off group traditionally - those with storage heaters or medical equip

Rising block tariffs end up either in labyrinthine exceptions to manage their shortcomings or obviously absurd outcomes like my electrified household, which already has negative annual bills, seeing a discount! For system efficiency/discounts do ToU. For social policy thats tax and benefits.

Indeed Gov needs to think about it now. Ministerial answers in parl have shown no interest in the reserve fleet route so far. Seems the obvious least cost choice Drax only has a contract out to 2031 atm.

No power now afaik. But if that was happening to the extent it might impact whatever the deemed min capacity of GTs needed for the grid then there wd be an intervention Perhaps via new planning rules &/or the mooted buying up (CP if needed) of GTs for a state reserve fleet

stockfttp.bsky.social @stockfttp.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Q in those circumstances might be would they be allowed to. The grid needs those GTs that could runs for 10s of hours

I know DC world has seen some ballsy price commitments but still. Avoided grid costs is right but is it enough DC and AI globally stretched financing -v- demand does look ripe for this to go very wrong so maybe this will never come to pass.

Politicians’ preferences matter as long as they are willing to write blank cheques to nuclear on behalf of the public. And both sides of the spectrum have incentives to keep the show on the road.

The comparison to be made might be the setting fire to money exercise of taking on the Scunthorpe Steelworks -v- supporting more Arc furnaces. Former might save some short term jobs but its only going to fail in the end at great expense.

Given EVs are more or less at price parity now and the running costs far lower they help on cost of living. EVs are simpler and need fewer suppliers but you aren't going to build reindustrialisation around the dying ICE chain so I'm not sure it makes much difference

Slowing the ZEV doesn't protect jobs it kills them bc the industry is investing in a dead end and won't survive. European car companies are looking to diversify into defence bc its even more (permanently) protectionist sector than cars.
