now seems like a good time to repost Florence Ashley's Trans Rules of Engagement. It sucks that public attacks and bleeding news are defining the current moment. Feels like misdirected energy sinking into movement self-immolation. www.intomore.com/impact/trans...
Screenshot of text labeled Principles
1. We are all flawed, traumatized humans at the end of their rope. Many of our actions say more about the conditions we live under than who we are as people.

2. No one is disposable. No one is unsalvageable.

3. Life holds greater value than being right or comfortable. Hurt is preferable to death.

4. No one should be deprived of community.

5. Harm does not require further harm. Punishment does not equate protection or healing.

Anyways, the people who are making you aware of every dumbass bill are doing so because they profit off of it. They are profiteering from your fear. They are making money by making you afraid and calling it advocacy. They are as much the problem as the politicians themselves.

Recently, I did a wonderful interview with the indefatigable @emilystjams.bsky.social about trans people's online information environment and why there are very strong incentives to spread panic. It was a wide-ranging discussion that I think is more relevant than ever.

That person y'all keep shoving on my timeline at the center of the lesbian bar masking drama seems like the most obvious, clumsy troll account on Earth and seeing no one echo this sentiment is kinda driving me slightly batty.

It’s mind-blowing that we have literal white nationalists in the White House carrying out unfathomably cruel, abusive, white nationalist policies, and the punditariat has spent the last two weeks debating if some people were too intemperate after a Black man was murdered by cops six years ago.

The Milo stuff is the perfect picture of fascism. You think you're protected because you go as big as you can on racism, you spend years harassing the movement's perceived enemies, you even disavow your own sexuality. They'll still throw you in a cage over the tiniest disagreement already forgotten.

So here's the thing that really flabbergasts me: That 2.34%? That's the absolute floor of where the trans population could possibly be. That's our population with, guaranteed, a shitload of trans people lying their asses off to the government. Meaning the actual population numbers are much higher.

Zero new NSF grants in sociology, anthropology, political science and economics. The agenda of this US govt is to stop documenting the society in which we live while they are destroying it. We will find other ways to track and explain our times and fight to restore our research funding.

on angels the holy is disorienting. it is almost entirely incomprehensible. it is a light so beautiful, so true, that it cannot be denied. it reorients, rewires, reconstructs in its image. it is pure form, pure figure. it is signal, it is bandwidth, and you the antenna. to be an angel is to receive.

Alex says "the world is so horrible Bluegrass Tony." Bluegrass Tony, an elderly bearded man with a corncob pipe, overalls and a straw hat says "well I don't know nothing 'bout that. I just like pickin'. Bluegrass Tony, sitting on a stump, barefoot, plays Foggy Mountain Breakdown on the banjo. Alex still seems depressed. She says "they're trying to kill us all, Bluegrass Tony." Bluegrass Tony, unphased, continues playing Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

When Ursula moved ta Newest Mexico, as it was known then, her one eyed demon cat couldn't cross runnin' water. She had ta lift the Missississippi River so her wagon train could pass underneath. Some cities say she put it back wrong, but if'n Ursula did it they'll find out she was right one day.
