I'm not convinced that damaging three datacenters would have such a stark effect on a collection of social media bots/trolls that might very well be operated more decentralized. The impact on the Yandex (web crawler) bot traffic seams real, but that's not tracking any social media bot activity.

I'd love this to be true as well, it's looking rather weak facutally - no sources, no explanation of the metric, etc... also a very convenient looking graph when real data is usually very messy.

As part of NASA's efforts to modernize and unify its websites, the raw image websites (Mars 2020, MSL, Psyche, Cassini, InSight) will be unified into a new tool. This will try to maintain as much compatibility as possible, but there will be some necessary changes.
ASA is undertaking an effort to modernize and unify its websites. As a result, there will be some changes to the Raw Images websites (active missions Mars 2020, MSL, and Psyche, and completed missions Cassini and InSIGHT). We are unifying the raw images sites across all supported missions, while attempting to retain as much compatibility as possible. Nevertheless, there will be some changes.

We are aware of the amazing work being done by dedicated enthusiasts and others using these sites, and want to make sure that we minimize disruption to your sites and tools. We therefore invite anyone who is interested to join us in the OpenPlanetary slack, in the #planetary-raw-images channel. We will be previewing our API plans there and - critically - want to hear about your use cases. What features do you most need? What modifications to our plans would make your life easier? What would you like to see on the site that isn’t there? While we can’t promise anything at this point, we will look at all requests to see if they’re doable in our schedule and budget.

You can join OpenPlanetary slack for free here:
https://openplanetary.org/join/
Please let me know if you have any difficulties signing up: Bob.Deen@jpl.nasa.gov

Thanks…

I just noticed that this program is already completed and limited to 15 epochs in total, have you seen whether there is any follow ups to that program or are the 8 remaining slices all we will get on these targets?

So it is somewhat appropriate that for an astronomical-scale MRI we use NIfTI files and a 3D viewer. We already have 7 slices of Maki, Greebo and Luna, and there are more to come. So this is what we got so far for Cas A light echo by JWST 🔭. NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI. more credits in the page below.

I also tested importing the Luna volume into blender as a .vdb and rendering it as an emmissive volume with a pseudocolor. This was a cool way to view the data, so thanks for making it available!

Thanks for the tip with MRIcron, that worked indeed. After some more tinkering in python I think I narrowed it down to the shear component of the affine transformation which isn't supported by SimpleITK which is used by 3DSlicer. After removing that and saving as .nnrd I was able to read it there.

Unfortunately 3DSlicer failed to open your .nii file I suspect there is a problem with your file (or it's too large?) since other .nii files seem to work. The log isn't very helpful, but perhaps you can make more of it. pastebin.com/1rX7tTB9

Do you know if it's possible to get a perspective camera view versus the orthographic rendering? I think perspective would make it easier to zoom in and understand the shape, the depth is a bit confusing with orthographic view for such a thin object.

I hope this JWST programme will keep running for a lot longer, this is already impressive but I can't imagine how it will be if we can get ten times as many slices as this!

A cool behind-the-scenes of the famous 'Hello Earth' photograph from Artemis II. It was captured by a camera mounted to the window of the Orion capsule, so the interior reflected in that window.

Those are indeed used to steer the capsule to the target splashdown point, but they are all pre-planned and executed by the flight controller. I believe the computer only changes the magnitude of the manouvers as needed to fly to the target point.

The audio was really noisy in the original video files, likely affected by electronic interference. The camera also applied automatic gain to the audio, so the noise was very amplified in quiet phases. I managed to undo that automatic gain and clean up the noise with a mix of python and Audacity.
screenshot from Audacity showing the original audio at the top, and the repaird and denoised track at the bottom, both as a waveform and as a spectrogram. The upper track has a lot of noise that is amplified to maximum volume, while the lower track has those noise sections cleaned up, showing a much more natural waveform.

You can hear fequent clanking sounds from the RCS thrusters activating. The thruster plumes also interact with the air, causing rapid changes in the plasma tail. The camera is mounted directly to the window, so those noises are picked up very well and probably louder than what the astronauts heard.

A glowing stellar nursery 👶⭐ Webb’s infrared sensitivity has revealed the protostars & stars of NGC 7129, a stellar nursery that lies 3,300 light-years from Earth. In the centre, lies the massive star LkH(alpha) 234, which has carved into its cloudy surroundings 👉 www.esa.int/ESA_Multimed... 🔭 🧪
A young star cluster filled with many stars that display Webb’s unique eight-pronged diffraction pattern. At its center is a yellow star which sports the largest diffraction pattern. To the left of the star, there is a region filled with yellow dust and gas that extends from the star to the left border of the image. This yellow region extends from the bottom, covering about two-thirds of the image. The yellow region has several blue stars of different sizes embedded within. The top third, which lies outside of the yellow region, holds a few bright protostars, within dense gray gas. Those stars illuminate the gas, making it appear blue. A few red outflows from other protostars are visible above this grayish-blue region. To the right of the central star, there is a clumpy, flame-like plume of red dust and gas with protostars that emit a soft white light within. The plume is surrounded by more dense gray gas and dust. There are several background galaxies strewn throughout the image. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI; Image Processing: A. Pagan (STScI)

Hubble image of Arp 321, also known as Hickson 40. This group of galaxies include three spiral galaxies, an elliptical galaxy, and a lenticular (lens-like) galaxy. Credit: NASA, ESA, STScI, Judy Schmidt Source
Five galaxies appear close to each other in the sky. At upper left, a spiral galaxy is tilted, appearing wider than it is tall. It has a glowing yellow-white center and brown dust trails that spiral clockwise around it. Above the center is a large elliptical galaxy. Its round, glowing yellow-white center is surrounded by a fuzzy halo that fades away from the core. Toward the bottom right are three galaxies that appear to touch. The largest is in the center: a nearly vertical, edge-on spiral galaxy. Its glowing yellow-white core is mostly obscured by reddish-brown dust trails dotted with blue stars. To its bottom left is a smaller, tilted spiral galaxy with a glowing white center. Brown dust trails are dotted with blue stars. One spiral arm appears to touch the vertical galaxy to its right. At the spiral’s bottom right is a lenticular galaxy with a glowing central core in the middle of a hazy white disk, appearing almost face-on. It seems to touch the large spiral galaxy above it.
