Employment situation resolved after 4 months. A lot shorter than most other people I know in ~*The Industry*~ Something new is that internal referrals don't really mean shit anymore. I had internal referrals for Asana, Apple (from a VP!), Shopify, and Microsoft, and they all auto-rejected me

So, since I reported to @reconnews.bsky.social that their endpoint to fetch user data was completely open, it looks like they've fixed the www.recon.com/api/profile/... endpoint so that it requires authentication if the user does not have a publicly available profile. Photos still wide-open though

Fine, Hank gets it also. The number of features and velocity they ship is great. But they rely heavily on AI for decisions AI should not be making. So it's suffering scaling issues. A few thousand people, with a handful in chatrooms that poll the API every second, and the slowdown is noticeable.

Look, I'm not going to say it's right or good that Recon has made enough decisions that allow anyone with a free account to profile anyone's sexual interests, get all images, private or otherwise and feed them into a facial recognition DB, and ultimately pinpoint their location.

Recently managed to overcome the discomfort of the nasal tubes of a full enclosure latex hood. I cut off about 6 inches of rubber tubing to do so, but a couple of inches is still very intense. "Encasement" does not do the sensation justice.
