It's very weird, to say the least. Recruiters have to wade through thousands of submissions of AI slop that get sent within hours of a job getting posted, so them even seeing your application is a total crapshoot. And most jobs that get posted also don't actually exist, in the first place.

Employment situation resolved after 4 months. A lot shorter than most other people I know in ~*The Industry*~ Something new is that internal referrals don't really mean shit anymore. I had internal referrals for Asana, Apple (from a VP!), Shopify, and Microsoft, and they all auto-rejected me

The photo endpoint in their API does require that an "isVerified=true" query param get passed along as a part of the API call, and if it's not supplied the API responds that it's mandatory. So, basically, yes, they explicitly want malicious actors to say please and thank you.

From a GDPR perspective, faces are considered biometric data, and anything to do with sexual activity/sexuality is considered "special category" data which required tighter controls. The law doesn't care whether the photos are public or not, recon is violating Articles 9, 25, and 32.
