Had fun watching Snowshoe Baseball in Lake Tomahawk tonight. It's actually softball, but played by local guys wearing snowshoes on a sawdust field. When I covered education, school admins would never, ever, under any circumstances, grant criticism of their schools… except when they were trying to pass a facilities bond. Then they’d go on a campaign about how their schools were disgusting and dangerous and embarrassing.

A kid from my first year of Little League coaching (he was in third grade) hit a grand slam to win a sectional championship today and though I deserve zero credit for teaching him anything about baseball he will always be one of my guys. (Also he’s nice and polite and always says hi, fantastic kid.)

Update: around 3:05 local today sirens went off, the city robocalled everyone to say "whoops we don't know what happened" and then an hour later the local nuclear plant said faulty equipment accidentally tripped the alert system. And that's all before the actual tornadoes arrive!

This is media literacy. Not “the station owner is a GOP donor” or “the editorial board leans hard left.” So many powerful forces aren’t rooted in electoral politics but too many people are convinced red vs. blue is the only meaningful framing for any debate.
