Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 12hCleveland locked in on “win to go home” mode which is different from “win or go home.” If the Sox win they can’t stay home. This is all relevant somehow. 000
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I can really only counter with a few sitcoms, which probably aren’t your bag. But generally yes, the few exceptions more than prove the rule. I like hearing people discuss shows made to air weekly being mass consumed in the stream era versus made for streaming episodic shows. 010
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Any time something about him goes semi-viral there's a rash of posts framing his 1970s Libertyville childhood balanced against Wikipedia data from the current decade. 011
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I'm still listening to “The Summer You Let Your Hair Grow Out" based on your mention. Will track this down as well. 010
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yeah they have votes and everything. One of larger society’s more discussed electoral processes! 020
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Cubs fan here. A. This was inevitable. B. Fantastic theater. Just a tremendous moment. Here’s hoping the billionaires finally recognize their potential to poison the wells from which this magic springs. 000
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 01/10/2026As a youth baseball dad I keep trying to tell the other parents our Illinois weather doesn’t allow enough games to see meaningful samples and using MLB as a comp isn’t always helpful. 010
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I played a men’s league the year I turned 40. Passable defense, limited offense, had never used a wood bat… but one night I barreled one straight to the left fielder and I’ve been thinking about that contact for seven years. 000
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Good info! On the content side I think I'm pretty simple because i can usually just log in with Xfinity credentials to either specific provider apps or stream the channel off Xfinity itself (since backyard is still "home”). It's the “get video bigger than a laptop" where I'm totally clueless. 000
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Thanks! Trying to watch baseball by the fire without carrying a TV down a bunch of stairs. And have zero experience, except for the fire part. But the WiFi signal was good for the laptop last weekend. 100
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Which one do you use? Also, is it any good before total actual darkness? 100
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I don’t watch much football of any flavor, and when I did I was a Michigan fan, but as a Coe 2001 grad seeing Braeden Jackson take one 99 gets me in the best way. 081
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Do you have a link to your gear? We moved last year and I’m finally enjoying outdoor baseball with a fire but just drug a laptop out here. 000

Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Been thinking about this a lot with a college freshman and high school sophomore. Always important to have a means of income but certainly a lot more to life than paychecks. 000
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I think to be the type of columnist I idolized in the ‘90s would’ve required never leaving my first daily. And that paper (and its city) has diminished… plus no one gets to just write their one piece every day. 000
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I’ve been lucky enough to still have paid writing opportunities. But “newspapers” as a viable career for me washed out within my first decade. 110
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I’m not that much older than you, but I have some strikingly similar feelings about being in print journalism starting in June 2001. 110

Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 09/09/2026At a lot of schools, especially private, no one comes close to paying sticker price. Like one school told us 98% of kids get *some* financial aid. They’ll just lop off a grand for going to admitted students weekend. It’s like air travel. Everyone going the same place for a different actual cost. 110
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I maintain yahoo but never use it. Actually set it up back when an employer only had shared email accounts for us. 000
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I’ve not dug into the details, but as the parent of a college freshman it sounds like maybe this is a useful step toward ending the Kohl’s approach to pricing higher ed. 110
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Have had a perfectly good Hotmail account since the last millennium. Why junk it now? I get a note from a real human like three times each month. 210
Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Realized today I know this isn’t a World Series team because they’ll never win enough road playoff games. Impossible. 110

Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 29/08/2026When some of us argue for the value of teaching the Bible as literature, this is what we mean: this reference is in no way evocative of the Good Samaritan from the parable. 021

It's actually softball, but played by local guys wearing snowshoes on a sawdust field. We try to catch a game anytime we're up here in-season. Good time at a unique event that's been played in this northern Wisc. town for 65 yrs. Many runs 121

Scott T. Holland @sth749.bsky.social · 09/08/2026The obverse of this, which might exist exclusively in youth ball where no one plays against the same defense twice, is being so excited to watch a coach choose to challenge a fielder when they absolutely should not. 010
