The new Belbury Poly album is an absolute banger. Best Ghost Box album in a long time.

A post on Next Door asks "Does anyone know who these are on my canvas please it's bugging me" with a photo of a painting of Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta.

If someone knows a word but not how to pronounce it, it means they learned it from reading. The Guardian is for thick snobs.

Just heard Gladys Knight is retiring. Made me think of one of my favourite Viz comic one panel gags. For me, the set up is so archaic is what makes it funnier today.

Post a picture that should be an album cover.
A framed print of an old painting of leopards, discarded on the pavement outside a charity shop.

The AI bubble is so weird because so many people are calling it, it's so obvious to anyone with even a passing interest in it, there's no rational explanation for how it makes money, and yet there's still people eagerly shovelling cash into the pit.

Mind you, at least by the time you get to the fifth amber warning of summer you get far fewer threads along the lines of ‘Buckle up, wisdom from Queensland incoming… Stay hydrated 1/n Prefer the shade to open sun 2/n Sunscreen is good 3/n… don’t cook a beef stew in the oven for three hours 47/n’

The wild thing about the World Cup nonsense is that everyone understands that private companies would take out more than they put in. Now translate that to power, water and every other public service….

A minor point in the grand scheme of things but disappointing seeing no coverage of a major unfolding local news story because all the (paid) local news reporters for the area are based on the other side of the borough, or at least seem to be.

I've twice nearly been run over in the past few days, both times while walking on the pavement. Increasingly the roads don't seem to be enough for car drivers, they need to use the pavements too.
