If folks need an impression of how dismal things are wrt treatment of ME and LC in the NHS, you just need to look at the services stocktake that was done in January 2025. There was "no data" for ME/CFS clinic referrals.
Annex 1 - Data Dashboard - Long Covid ME/CFS Stock take December 2024.

Highlighted box shows that there is NO DATA for total referrals to ME/CFS clinics for the period examined in the stocktake.

Three weeks into remission from Long Covid ME/CFS (like almost all symptoms gone, inc PEM), and I get Covid again, after a 2 week cold. Still early days, no LC-ME symptoms; seems the whole system of symptoms and underlying biology shifts. Hoping remission continues after the acute infection.

Photo of a runner in the top right and a woman in bed in the dark in bottom left. With fundraising text.

My brother Gary Shorrock is taking on one of Britain’s most demanding endurance challenges for @MEResearchUK : the Bob Graham Round in the Lake District

To complete it, he must cover around 66 miles, summit 42 fells, and climb more than 8,200 metres (approximately 26,900 feet of ascent) all within 24 hours.

Gary has previously undertaken major endurance events and fundraising challenges, raising over £20,000 for an Alder Hey children’s hospital. This time, he is taking on the Bob Graham Round to raise money for a devastating yet underfunded condition.

ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/ chronic fatigue syndrome) is a serious, disabling, life-altering illness. It can leave people unable to work, study, socialise, or manage ordinary daily activities. In severe and very severe cases, it confines people to their beds.

Research has shown that quality of life for people with ME/CFS can be among the worst reported for any medical condition.

Scientific research is increasingly identifying objective biological abnormalities in ME/CFS, including in blood, immune and metabolic function. Yet despite its severity, the illness has remained profoundly underfunded for decades.

The funds raised through this challenge will go to ME Research UK, a charity that commissions and funds high-quality biomedical research into the causes, consequences, and treatment of ME/CFS.

The work of @MEResearchUK reflects the urgent need for better scientific understanding of a disease that affects hundreds of thousands of people in the UK and leaves many housebound or bedbound, with their lives on hold.

Support for this fundraiser will help contribute to urgently needed research into a devastating and neglected illness.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and sharing the page would also make a big difference.

#ME/CFS is the neuro-immuno-metabolic illness that takes away your whole body’s ability to function and live. And the more you push through your energy envelope, the more it takes away and disables you. It is also still the most misunderstood, mischaracterized, neglected and underfunded disease.

Seems ludicrous now a couple of years ago I’d not realised the reason why overdoing things on the day after I appeared to have gotten away with overdoing it the day before; wasn’t just doubling the impact of the delayed PEM but creating a situation of rolling PEM 🤦🏻‍♀️

It could be me
Photo of closed curtain with light coming from the top. Poem about myalgic encephalomyelitis transposed over the photo.

When I found out
That I had M.E.
I found out more about it
And all the people
That 'live' with it
That 'live' within four walls
It's not ‘life living'
As people understand it
It's barely surviving
In a body that doesn't work
It's fighting to be seen
In a healthcare system
That doesn't care
In a society that forgot
And seeing these people
Confined to their beds
Having lost their jobs
And their friends
And their former lives
Well, it completely broke my heart
The injustice
The carelessness
And I realised
That it could be me
That this is M.E.

My hunch is that non-autistic people do not spend months/years reading books about autism, following accounts of autistic people, paying for assessments, or feel the need for a formal process. And if you pass the test…you have a label that non-autistic people would not want.

I mean... holy shit.
From Rasmus Jarlow, Danish politician: "I don't know if there is a kill switch in the F35's or not. We obviously can not take your word for it.

As one of the decision makers behind Denmark's purchase of F35's, I regret it.

The USA can certainly disable the planes by simple stopping the supply of spare parts. They want to strengthen Russia and weaken Europa and are showing that they are willing to do tremendous damage to peaceful and loyal allies like Canada just because they insist on existing as a country.

I can easily imagine a situation where the USA will demand Greenland from Denmark and will threaten to deactivate our weapons and let Russia attack us when we refuse (which we will even in that situation).

Therefore, buying American weapons is a security risk that we can not run. We will make enormous investments in air defence, fighter jets, artillery and other weapons in the coming years, and we must avoid American weapons if at all possible.

I encourage our allies and friends to do the same."
