This is worth checking out… and, self self self moment, I’m warming up for Jim, and Bill is closing, at the Brighton gig next month. We’re all at Patterns on Sunday, October 18th.

Another London sesh… an alternative to carnival perhaps… Andy Taylor, the lovely dude behind We Are The Sunset has invited me to play a few times with him today on the banks of the Thames. Also, I’m wearing a leopard print Adidas tracksuit so you’d be a fool to miss it.

It’s like a millpond out there… gorgeous. Kicked off the day with a run and then straight in the sea, all the way out to the buoys and back. Now to pack records for set with Damian Harris (yep, the Midfield General himself) at Babble, right on the prom, on the sea-deck at 2pm. Who needs Ibiza ;)

Monday morning blues? If you need a new mix to get you through the day then the recording from Saturday at Wood Street Bear might help… a few of my faves, and a decent smattering of new finds and digs, new bits from mates, and the curveball of all curveballs to close. Link is down there 👇

Looks like Walthamstow is the place to be today, so the legends at Wood St Bear have invited me to play records under their sparkling smiley. Starting late afternoon and play through till my train back (once the far right have been run out of my hometown) It will be, as the kids say, B.A.F.

World Cup Hot Take no1 Panini have, as is their wont, managed to omit the scorer of the first goal of the tournament from this years 980 sticker album. Cole Palmer can add the Nike ad to his inclusion in this years album too. Yes, I am collecting them. Yea, I am 52.

Watched this 100 times as a kid, can still join in with every fan chant and Viva Les Bleus. They say the World Cup closest to your 11th birthday is the one you always remember and I was 11 when Mexico ‘86 started and now I’m subjecting my lovely wife to Hero once again!

Rainy day = record room day and the annual cull is well underway. Already got rid of a decent pile before today even started and the Cogs page is slowly filling up again… trust me, if anyone ever says you can’t have too many records, they’re wrong.

Every word of this. Such an eloquent way of describing what it feels like to be Spurs right now. With all that is going on in the world it seems so self-indulgent, but I’m seeing in others, and experiencing myself, the impact football has on mental wellbeing. The last few months have been hell.

So far today I’ve had my train to London cancelled then arrived at my hotel only to find they’ve messed up the booking and allocated us a room for tomorrow, despite me having proof of confirmation of a reservation for today. Found a room in an absolute flea pit. We’d better win after all this…

Rainy Monday in need of a few bangers? The good folk at Dusty Walk recorded my set for them last Friday. Lots of Balearic bleeps and breakbeats, a smidge of Dee Patten from @julesfoddy.bsky.social a bit of piano and, unusual for me, its a bit H O U S E! www.mixcloud.com/steve_kiw/li...

Over the past five days I’ve seen Beverly Glenn-Copeland (82) and Laurie Anderson (78) perform at the Brighton Festival. Each gig was life-affirming. Uplifting, political, truly remarkable. Copeland brought on a brilliant queer choir, Anderson duetted with (taped) Arthur Russell! Celebrate them.

This felt like a seismic coming-together moment in our season. The performance, the effort, the fans (those that turned up!), each have me believing that this won’t end as badly as feared. I mean the scum will still win multiple trophies and we’ll end up 15th at best but it could’ve been 34/5 again.
