Although my favourite will always be when one of the quieter lads burst in and beat the shit out of one of the bullies in front of everyone. No one intervened. Even the teachers were happy to watch for a bit before they remembered they had a job to do.

Nothing so mad but we did have an assembly where David Grant (he of Lynx, and latterly a tv ‘talent’ show) came along and sang to us from the stage. He’d only been a chart star a year or so prior so it was very surreal. Undoubtedly there was a church element to it but that bit was lost on me.

Indulged? I went to Picketts Lock. W8 from Edmonton Green! Sadly, after an ill fated attempt at roller skating at the Vintage Festival 15 years or so ago I leave wheels behind. I did go to the roller rink at We Out Here, but my time there was after the wheels had gone away.

DDR and Stasi museums are well worth a visit, the flea markets are essential (my fave is Mauerpark every Sunday) It’s really easy to get round my tram (Mauerpark to Freidrichstein in 15mins) or by foot (Alexanderplatz to Brandenburg Gate is one of the best walks you can do and takes an hour) Enjoy!

Probably second only to Nee York in my favourite places to visit. Tick the tourist spots off but honestly the best thing to do is walk the neighbourhoods, head down to Neukoln, mosey round Kreuzberg, stop for beers whenever feels right, grab a bottle and chill by the Spree (1/2)…
