I can’t believe we’re still having a debate about whether there’s a trade off between job creation and measures to green the economy. There isn’t. The evidence was clear years ago - a green economy creates far more jobs than the fossil fuel economy it replaces. Come on Labour, catch up …

The US military has 22 sites in the UK. Every day long range US bombers are taking off here to drop bombs on Iran. This is a rogue state carrying out war crimes, and threatening more. The UK Government must grow a spine - and stop our bases being used for this war.

The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.

On one hand this is good news - particularly if it reflects newly expanded capacity for generation. On the other hand solar has done well because we’ve had such an unusually dry and sunny spring. At Wild & Other, our solar was up 43% on the same quarter in 2024 but we had 12 weeks with no rain!!

This makes for very interesting (and worrying) reading. We haven’t had any rain at Cow Close Farm for 10 weeks now. The wildlife ponds are nearly dry and the clay is cracking, 300 new tree saplings need watering (my job for Thur) and our bees need puddles to drink from.

I find these updates fascinating but they raise a serious question - how on earth do we get to an average of 50-100 gCO2e/kWh by 2030? It’s vital that we do but the government’s action isn’t convincing. Need to dramatically reduce gas, and increase wind and storage. What else?

Totally agree with this. Cuts to Local Authority funding and a privatising of so many public spaces have robbed so many of dignity, of freedom from anxiety and the ability to get out and about with so few public, decent toilets available. Such a fundamental thing for all of us to live well!
