But this intervention (which follows our intervention in the Dr Beth Upton case) is just the start - we will have many more legal battles to fight in the future, including our battle against the EHRC Code of Practice. 4/5

But we are not alone - it is because of people like you who have put your trust in us and donated to our legal fund, sometimes a "one-off," sometimes more regularly, but whatever the case.... every penny counts. 3/5

The effort for us to be able to do this has been truly immense - spending 1,000s of hours between us, our solicitors, Leigh Day and legal counsel in preparation. 2/5

TRANSLUCENT STATEMENT: Today, as Chair of TransLucent, I can announce that we have submitted an application to the High Court to intervene in the Sex Matters v City of London Corporation case, the outcome of which could profoundly affect trans access to gendered spaces in the future. 1/5

Single-Sex Spaces. 444 FOI requests were made to public bodies over nearly 5 years - @TransLucent_Org asked the question. So what does the data show regarding trans women using single-sex spaces in hospitals, public changing rooms and toilets? youtu.be/bwxnklUaP-Q

Not black people. Not disabled people. Trans people. The 26th is the Labour Party's... Day of Shame. When you exclude any protected group, every protected group becomes more vulnerable. 8/10

And why would a trans man sacrifice his Article 8 right to privacy just to stand? They couldn’t be identified anyway - Labour collects data by gender, not sex. So, on 26 September, an entire protected characteristic is effectively excluded. 7/10

Labour is choosing to ignore that. Trans women are banned from being delegates. And by Labour’s logic, trans men are “women”. But trans men live in manhood. Those with a GRC are legally men. No Constituency Labour Party is going to elect a man to represent women’s lived experience. 6/10

Steph Richards She/Her @stephrichards.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Because of the highly contentious Supreme Court judgment, Labour is treating trans women — including those with Gender Recognition Certificates - as men. Legally, a GRC affirms that trans women are women. 5/10

Women of many different faiths and backgrounds. But one protected characteristic will be missing. Not because they didn’t stand to be a delegate. Not because they weren’t elected - but because they are banned. Trans women 3/10

On the 26th, the Labour Party will hold its National Women’s Conference in #Liverpool - a space that should represent the full diversity of womanhood. There will be black women, white women, straight women, gay women. 2/10

On Saturday, the 26th of September 2026, the political party that claims to champion “Equality” - the Labour Party - will, in reality, champion discrimination... against an entire (EA) protected characteristic. 1/10

The Gender Critical are trying to normalise the idea that trans + people are their birth sex. This is a cynical attempt to erase trans + people from existing. We must not let this happen. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary (enby) people are valid and exist too.

12/12 The Labour Party must decide whether it will continue down a path that marginalises some of the most vulnerable people in society or finally choose equality, integrity, and courage.

10/12 This trajectory has damaged the UK’s global reputation, contributing to our seismic drop in the ILGA Europe Rainbow Index - leading to political parties, and specifically Labour, being excluded from Pride events nationwide.

7/12 We have seen life-saving access to puberty blockers blocked for vulnerable youth. At the same time, trans women are increasingly treated as pariahs both in the party and often in society generally because of a cruel culture war against a tiny, vulnerable minority.

6/12 In recent times, we have witnessed a severe regression: the abandonment of a Self-ID policy, the adoption of a deeply flawed Sex and Gender Data report authored by a gender-critical from Sex Matters, & the acceptance of the heavily criticised Cass Report, which completely fails trans children.

THIS DESERVES REPOSTING… This was posted online quite a while ago, but the message remains powerful…
Written by a cisgender woman and ally in response to a cisgender man's hateful
comment on a transgender woman's post. "Transgender women existing makes me proud to be a woman. Because it means that being a woman must be something very special if someone born with all the privileges and supposed advantages of being male is not only willing to give that up, but go through so much pain and anguish, emotionally and physically, to achieve what some of us are born
with and take for granted every day."
