Secretary of (Losing) Wars Hegseth rejects meritocracy. He doesn't want a military or service academies filled w/ the best people (no matter what color, gender, orientation, etc.), he wants a military that looks and thinks just like him. It's a recipe for incompetence, a topic on which he's expert.

The idea that allowing the Saudi regime — which has murdered journalists, don’t forget — and other foreign investors to up to 100% of CBS and CNN is somehow in the “public interest” twists the term beyond recognition. But FCC’s Brendan Carr only serves Trump and Larry Ellison, not the public.

This essay is particularly bad because it's trying to explain discontent for the party system while noting that other countries have multiparty systems that may mean voters can find a party aligned with their own views - but it fails to note that populism has surged in parliamentary systems too.

There are only two possibilities: 1) Trump genuinely believes he was somehow rescued out of the 9/11 wreckage (in which case he's delusional and probably senile), or 2) he knows full well that he wasn't there but believes bald-faced lies are perfectly ok. Either one is disqualifying.
