It's weird that Trump is speaking at 2PM until you realize that his audience is not the American people -- he doesn't give a shit about us -- his audience are cable news producers, who will now have time to propagandize up whatever shit show speech he delivers in time for the evening viewers.

There have been lots of malevolent Supreme Court justices, but there's not really a precedent for a Supreme Court justice who is as *dumb* as Brett Kavanaugh. A complete rube. Shows his ass every time he tries to write down more than two sentences of original thought.

NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.

Feels like we’re going to need a different adjective for these justices, because it’s not really “conservative” to allow the USPS to screw with ballots just six weeks before the election
Instead, only Justices Samuel A. Alito Jr. and C'arence Thomas - the court's two most conservative members — lodged their dissent, indicating that they would have allowed the president's plan to reshape how the Postal Service handles mail-in ballots to move ahead.

Obviously this is a hilarious and obvious lie but it's instructive in that Trump knows he's supposed to care about this thing, and manifestly does not and cannot care about it, and so he has to put himself into the story just to make it something he can talk about. He almost died that day!

The Truly Great
BY STEPHEN SPENDER
I think continually of those who were truly great.
Who, from the womb, remembered the soul's history Through corridors of light, where the hours are suns, Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
Should tell of the Spirit, clothed from head to foot in song.
And who hoarded from the Spring branches
The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.
What is precious, is never to forget
The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs
Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth.
Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light
Nor its grave evening demand for love.
Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother With noise and fog, the flowering of the spirit.
Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields, See how these names are fêted by the waving grass And by the streamers of white cloud And whispers of wind in the listening sky.
The names of those who in their lives fought for life, Who wore at their hearts the fire's centre.
Born of the sun, they travelled a short while toward the sun And left the vivid air signed with their honour.

Perriello Opposes NextEra Takeover of Virginia’s Utilities; Calls on McGuire to Stop Cashing Dominion Checks and Start Fighting for Virginia Ratepayers

Virginia Families and Rural Communities Will Pay the Price if $67 Billion Acquisition by Out-of-State Monopoly Proceeds

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — Tom Perriello today announced his opposition to the proposed $67 billion acquisition of Dominion Energy by NextEra Energy, which would hand control of Virginia's primary state-regulated utility to a Florida-based corporate monopoly. The deal would create the largest “regulated” electric utility in the world.

"These giant monopolies keep sticking Virginia families with higher bills, hidden costs, and horrendous transmission lines and data centers that communities clearly do not want,” said Perriello. "Monopolies corrupting our politics is a big part of what got Virginia into this mess, and handing even more power to a Florida monopoly is guaranteed to make things worse for our electric bills, our rural communities, and our ability to land the clean energy jobs of the future.”

The proposed acquisition, announced in May and filed for regulatory approval in July, would combine Dominion Energy with NextEra Energy, the largest electric and energy infrastructure company in North America, headquartered in Juno Beach, Florida. NextEra shareholders would own 74.5% of the combined company. The deal is subject to approval from the Virginia State Corporation Commission, which has scheduled its first public hearing for November, as well as state regulators in North Carolina and South Carolina, and federal regulators. The companies project the review process will last until late 2027.

Perriello has been fighting Dominion Energy's overreach in Virginia communities for years, opposing the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, standing against the Valley Link transmission line, and refusing to accept a single dollar from Dominion Energy or its affiliated political operations. The same cannot be said of …
