UK population-based cohort study including 14 083 patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. HDP associated with a doubling of the risk of developing dilated cardiomyopathy. Risk was increased with severity of preeclampsia, older maternal age & postpartum hypertension. ja.ma/3Fwf0n2

Asthma in pregnancy Study from the Albert Pregnancy Birth Cohort, incidence of asthma was 8.6% & maternal asthma associated with 15% higher risk of PTB, an 11% higher risk of LBW, and a 10% higher risk of C-section. Risk increased with active asthma www.jaci-inpractice.org/article/S221...

Another #Bluestorial! Last I did oxygen targets in the critically ill pregnant patient. What about CO₂ targets? The normal PaCO₂ level in pregnancy is 28-32 mmhg (3.7 - 4.3 kPa) - do we need to ventilate down to these levels?

If you are pregnant, do NOT drink raw milk. It is not safe. 2-8% of raw milk contains listeria. Pregnant people are 10 times more likely to contract listeriosis, which increases risk for miscarriage, stillbirth, preterm birth, and neonatal death and disability
